What is the role of an Operations Director?

As an Operations Director you will be responsible for managing the daily operations of a company by overseeing several departments. You will direct actions across a company and oversee department managers to ensure the smooth running of the business. In addition to supervising the company’s overall operations, you will also manage the production of the company’s goods, ensure that the company’s operations are efficient and cost-effective, and oversee the company’s retention procedures and methods.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the daily operations of each department, creating, and implementing company policies, and following standard procedures, legal requirements, and regulations

  • Collect, analyse, and interpret data and metrics to assess overall performance

  • Collaborate with senior management to decide on operational operations and establish strategic objectives

  • Creating any necessary documentation, such as schedules and budgets, needed for the company

  • Manage relationships and contracts with third-party suppliers and partners

  • Ensuring that the needs of the clientele are promptly and effectively fulfilled

  • Provide leadership in the areas of production, purchasing, and distribution so that the company can achieve its short- and long-term goals

  • Developing financial strategies to improve sales margins

Qualifications

  • Experience in managing relationships with partners and suppliers, as well as contracts and agreements
