Azure Kubernetes Engineer – Banking Application Migration

Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Azure Kubernetes Engineer to lead the migration of critical banking applications from standard Azure hosting to Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). This is a business-critical initiative involving multiple dependencies and high complexity, and requires deep Kubernetes and Azure expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, set up, and manage Azure Kubernetes clusters tailored for hosting finance and banking applications.

• Lead the migration of existing Azure-hosted applications to AKS, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum security.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to handle dependencies across APIs, transaction services, card services, and other banking modules.

• Manage network configurations, including opening ports and securing service-to-service communications.

• Implement and manage monitoring and observability using Azure Monitor and Grafana (hands-on setup required).

• Work closely with internal teams and third-party providers to onboard critical APIs and services into the new infrastructure.

• Ensure high availability, compliance, and security throughout the migration and post-migration phases.

• Document all architecture, processes, and operational procedures.

Key Requirements

• Proven experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) in enterprise-grade environments.

• Strong background in cloud infrastructure, networking, and security within Azure.

• Hands-on experience with Grafana, Azure Monitor, and other observability tools.

• Previous experience in application migration projects, ideally in finance or banking sectors.

• Excellent understanding of managing dependencies in complex microservice environments.

• Experience configuring network policies, ingress controllers, and service meshes is a plus.

• Comfortable working with API integrations and services related to cards, transactions, and financial services.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills in English.

Working Conditions

• Hybrid working model – 2 days per week onsite in Amsterdam.

• Contract duration: 2 to 3 years.

• Migration project phase: 6–12 months focused delivery.

• Daily rate: €550-600/day.
