BA Practice Lead – 2-Year FTC

A genuinely exciting one for a BA leader who wants the opportunity to build something, rather than inherit a finished function.

We’re partnering with a major UK organisation that is investing heavily in a significant, multi-year technology and business transformation programme. As part of that investment, they’re looking for a BA Practice Lead to come in and build out a more mature, consistent Business Analysis capability.

You’ll inherit a small team of experienced BAs,  and a few dotted line reports. The capability is there – what’s missing is the structure around it.

The role

You’ll have the opportunity to put your stamp on how Business Analysis is done across the organisation, including:

• Building and maturing the BA practice.
• Creating consistent standards, methodology and ways of working.
• Leading, coaching and developing an experienced BA team.
• Improving requirements management, traceability and QA.
• Raising the maturity of process mapping and as-is/to-be process design.
• Making sure analysis is driving the right business outcomes, rather than simply documenting requirements.
• Getting involved early to help shape new initiatives before they move into delivery.
• Managing BA capacity across a broad portfolio of change.
• Working closely with Delivery, Transformation, PMO and external partners.
• Rolling your sleeves up and getting involved in the more complex pieces of work when needed.

Who we’re looking for

You’ll probably be operating as a BA Practice Lead, Head of Business Analysis, BA Manager or experienced Lead BA who has already had responsibility for developing a wider capability.

The sweet spot is someone who has:

• Built or significantly matured a BA practice before.
• Led and developed teams of experienced BAs.
• Worked across large-scale business and technology transformation.
• Strong process design and operating model experience.
• Excellent requirements management and traceability experience.
• Worked across different delivery methodologies and knows what good looks like.
• Strong business stakeholder skills and is comfortable challenging when needed.
• A pragmatic approach – this isn’t about introducing process for the sake of process.

Experience from a service-led, operational environment such as transport, travel, hospitality, retail or infrastructure would be particularly interesting, but isn’t essential.

Why it’s interesting

This is very much a build rather than maintain opportunity.  The wider transformation programme is significant, the investment is there and the leadership team is looking for someone who can come in, bring some structure and genuinely raise the maturity of the BA capability.
