ServiceNow CMDB Developer / Automation Engineer

Expected duration: 6 months

Day Rate: £650pd to £750pd Inside IR35

Reporting line: Reports to the CMDB Product Owner.

Role purpose

The ServiceNow CMDB Developer / Automation Engineer will build and configure the ServiceNow capabilities required to support the client’s CMDB uplift programme.

The role will turn agreed CMDB/CSDM design, governance controls, and data quality requirements into working ServiceNow solutions. This includes ownership and lifecycle controls, automated remediation workflows, certification campaigns, CMDB dashboards, simplified forms/views, readiness gates, data quality rules, and integration-related configuration.

The role is expected to be hands-on. The candidate must be comfortable working in an existing ServiceNow environment where the CMDB requires remediation, simplification, and operational improvement.

Expected deliverables:

The contractor will be expected to produce and/or directly support delivery of:

· Ownership gating configuration.

· Lifecycle guardrails and stale CI handling automation.

· Data quality remediation workflows.

· Certification campaign workflows and escalation logic.

· CMDB Health-related rules and remediation processes.

· Domain scorecards and CMDB KPI dashboards.

· Simplified CMDB forms, lists and views.

· CI/service readiness gate workflow support.

· Integration/import support configuration where required.

· Test scripts, release notes and deployment evidence.

· Technical documentation for configured workflows and controls.

· Knowledge transfer and handover material.

Required experience:

Candidates must have strong experience with:

· ServiceNow platform development and configuration.

· Flow Designer, Business Rules, UI Policies, Client Scripts and scheduled jobs.

· ServiceNow CMDB tables, CI classes, relationships and configuration records.

· CMDB Health, data quality rules, duplicate detection or remediation workflows.

· ServiceNow reporting, dashboards and preferably Performance Analytics.

· Building workflow automation for approvals, tasks, notifications and escalations.

· Import sets, transform maps and ServiceNow data loading patterns.

· Working with ServiceNow developers, architects, BAs and product owners in delivery teams.

· Testing ServiceNow configuration changes in sub-production before release.

· Producing clear technical documentation and handover notes.

· Working in existing enterprise ServiceNow environments rather than only clean new implementations.

Desirable experience:

Useful but not mandatory:

· ServiceNow CMDB, ITOM or Discovery experience.

· ServiceNow Integration Hub experience.

· REST API integration experience.

· Service Graph Connector experience.

· ServiceNow Service Mapping exposure.

· ServiceNow Performance Analytics experience.

· ITSM, ITOM, SACM or CMDB process knowledge.

· Experience supporting CMDB remediation, governance or data quality programmes.

· Experience in large enterprise or regulated environments.

· ServiceNow Certified Application Developer or relevant ServiceNow implementation certifications.
