The Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Migration Lead to own the extraction, cleansing, transformation, validation and migration of operational data from legacy systems to the new cloud-native platform. You will ensure data quality, auditability and continuity of operational capability throughout the transition, playing a critical role in ensuring no loss of evidential integrity during cutover.

About the Programme

We are supporting a major central Government client on a mission-critical digital transformation programme to replace a legacy case management system with a modern, secure, cloud-native platform hosted on Microsoft Azure.

The new platform will automate referral ingestion, triage and case-handling workflows, integrate with key national systems, provide secure APIs for data exchange with partners, and deliver significant improvements in operational reporting, resilience and scalability.

This is a multidisciplinary programme bringing together a full delivery team to design, build, secure and support the platform from the ground up. It is an opportunity to work on nationally important digital infrastructure within a technically demanding and rewarding environment.

Working Arrangements

Location: Hybrid – various UK locations. Candidates must be able to attend site as required.

Clearance: Active SC Clearance is essential. Candidates without active SC clearance will not be considered.

Rate: Competitive, commensurate with experience. To be discussed on application.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end data migration workstream from legacy systems to the new Azure-hosted platform
• Define and implement the data extraction, cleansing, transformation and validation strategy
• Ensure data quality, auditability and evidential integrity throughout the migration process
• Plan and manage cutover activities to ensure continuity of operational capability during transition
• Collaborate with data engineers, backend engineers, QA and operational stakeholders
• Develop and maintain migration runbooks, audit trails and reconciliation reporting
• Manage risks, issues and dependencies associated with the migration workstream

Essential Requirements

• Proven track record leading complex data migration programmes from legacy to modern systems
• Strong experience with data extraction, cleansing, transformation and validation at scale
• Experience managing cutover planning and operational continuity during live data migrations
• Ability to ensure data quality and audit trail requirements are met throughout migration
• Active SC Clearance (essential – candidates without this will not be considered)

Desirable

• Experience migrating data within government or law enforcement environments
• Familiarity with Azure Data Factory, SSIS or equivalent ETL tooling
• Experience with evidential integrity requirements or chain-of-custody data handling
