AI Agent Operator / Prompt Engineer
Location: Remote
Clearance: SC required – DV highly desirable
Contract: 6–12 months (extensions likely)
Rate: £500–£650/day
Overview
We’re supporting a major UK public sector organisation as they build out a next-generation AI capability—focused on moving beyond proof of concept and into real, operational deployment.
This is not a traditional engineering role.
Instead, we’re looking for individuals who can work directly with AI tools, agents, and workflows to solve real business problems—rapidly and pragmatically.
The Role
You’ll sit at the intersection of delivery, product, and AI, helping teams:
- Design and deploy AI-driven workflows and agents
- Translate business problems into prompt-based solutions
- Use tools like Copilot, LLM platforms, and orchestration frameworks to automate tasks
- Move ideas from concept → prototype → live use quickly
- Drive adoption of AI across operational teams
This is about getting outcomes from AI, not building systems from scratch.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Designing and refining prompts to generate reliable, high-quality outputs
- Building and managing AI agents and multi-step workflows
- Identifying opportunities to replace manual processes with AI-driven solutions
- Working closely with stakeholders to translate requirements into working AI use cases
- Rapidly prototyping and iterating based on feedback
- Supporting the move from PoC into real-world deployment
What We’re Looking For
We’re deliberately open on background—but you’ll likely come from one of the following:
- Product / Delivery / Business Analysis with strong AI exposure
- AI / Data / Engineering roles with a focus on LLMs or automation
- Innovation / transformation roles working with AI tools
Key Experience
- Hands-on experience using LLMs / AI tools (e.g. Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, etc.)
- Exposure to prompt engineering or AI-driven workflows
- Ability to translate business problems into practical solutions quickly
- Experience working in Agile / fast-paced delivery environments
Nice to Have
- Experience with:
- AI agents / orchestration frameworks (e.g. LangChain, Semantic Kernel)
- Python or scripting (not essential)
- Cloud platforms (Azure / AWS)
- Background in public sector or regulated environments
Key Traits
- Pragmatic – focused on delivering “good enough” solutions fast
- Curious – comfortable working with emerging technology
- Strong communicator – able to work across technical and non-technical teams
- Adaptable – able to learn new tools and approaches quickly
Why This Role is Different
- Not traditional software engineering
- Focus on using AI tools to deliver outcomes, not building everything from scratch
- Opportunity to shape how a major organisation adopts and scales AI capability
- Sitting at the forefront of a rapidly evolving space
The Bigger Picture
This role is part of a wider shift towards:
- AI-driven delivery models
- Agent-based workflows
- Reduced reliance on traditional engineering approaches
You’ll be helping define what “working with AI” actually looks like in practice.
Apply / Next Steps
If you’re already experimenting with AI tools, building workflows, or exploring how AI can replace manual effort—we’d be keen to speak.
