UNBOUND mentorship: mentee check-in
You’re roughly halfway through your UNBOUND mentoring relationship. This session is a chance to step back, work out what’s actually landing, and get more out of the second half.
Four months is a short window, and it’s easy to get to the midpoint without having stopped to ask whether you’re using the time well. This session gives you that pause – alongside other mentees figuring out the same thing.
It’s a facilitated group conversation, not a talk or a training session. It’s built from what previous cohorts found useful at this stage, and from whatever’s live for you right now.
What this session covers
- Comparing notes on what’s helping and what’s stalling across different pairings
- Talking through common sticking points with mentees at the same stage
- Picking up practical ways to get more from your remaining sessions
- Reflecting on your goals and what’s realistic to aim for by the end
Who this is for
- Mentees currently matched through the UNBOUND mentorship programme
- Anyone unsure whether they’re making the most of their mentoring sessions
- Anyone whose pairing has gone quiet and wants to reset it
- Mentees who want to hear how others are approaching the same stage
Why we run this
The midpoint is usually when the initial momentum of a new mentoring relationship either holds or drops off. Taking the time to reflect on it, rather than letting the second half happen by default, makes a real difference to what you get out of it.
It also helps to hear that other mentees are working through the same thing. A lot of what comes up in these sessions isn’t new advice – it’s recognising your own experience in someone else’s.
About the UNBOUND mentorship programme
UNBOUND runs a structured mentorship programme for women in tech, matching mentors and mentees across companies and seniority levels. Matching takes six weeks, the commitment runs for four months, and pairs meet for around an hour a month.
The current cohort includes 36 mentees and 35 mentors, with several people taking on both roles. It’s built to support career progression, but just as much of it is about confidence, visibility and having someone outside your own organisation to think out loud with.
Want to get involved in UNBOUND mentorship?
This session is for mentees already on the programme. If you’d like to find out how you could become part of a future cohort, get in touch at unbound@lafosse.com.
