Head of IT Transformation / IT Director (Transformation Programme)

Contract – 18 Month FTC

We are supporting a leading organisation undergoing a significant, multi-year business and technology transformation. As part of this journey, they are looking to appoint an experienced IT leader to take ownership of the technology strategy and delivery across a large-scale enterprise transformation programme.

This is a senior, high-impact role where you will act as the bridge between business and technology, working closely with executive stakeholders to shape and deliver a modern, scalable IT landscape.

The Role

• Define and lead the IT strategy aligned to a complex, organisation-wide transformation programme
• Own the end-to-end technology roadmap covering infrastructure, applications, data, and security
• Drive large-scale modernisation initiatives, including cloud adoption, ERP implementation, and digital workplace transformation
• Lead the transition from programme delivery into long-term operational (BAU) capability
• Ensure strong governance, risk management, and alignment with regulatory and security standards
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, influencing technology investment and transformation decisions

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver IT elements of a major enterprise transformation programme
• Build and maintain effective relationships with senior stakeholders across the business
• Manage and hold accountable large, tier-one vendors, system integrators, and service providers
• Oversee delivery assurance to ensure solutions meet architectural, operational, and commercial expectations
• Drive organisational change management to support adoption and business readiness
• Establish and embed a target IT operating model to support post-transformation sustainability

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience leading large-scale IT or digital transformation programmes
• Strong background managing complex delivery environments with multiple third-party vendors and partners
• Demonstrable experience overseeing large system integrators and vendor ecosystems
• Experience operating within highly complex, business-critical transformation programmes
• Strong commercial and financial acumen with ownership of significant budgets
• Expertise across enterprise architecture, cloud platforms (Azure, AWS or GCP), and modern IT operating models
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at board level
