IT Field Engineer – Retail Deployment Engineer (Field & Site-Based Roles)

Locations:

• 1 x Site-Based: Leicester
• 2 x Field-Based: Nationwide (excluding London)

Contract Type: Full-time, 3-month contract

Travel: Required for field-based roles – expenses and overnight stays covered

Project Overview:

We are recruiting a Field Engineer to support a high-volume retail technology deployment project across the UK. The initiative involves the rollout of new Surface and Windows-based devices to approximately 150 retail store locations, as part of a structured upgrade program.

This role is ideal for individuals with strong technical deployment skills and a flexible, travel-friendly approach. Contractors will work closely with internal teams to ensure seamless store technology refreshes, excluding locations in London.

Key Responsibilities:

For All Roles:

• Support the deployment of new Surface and Windows machines to retail locations.
• Ensure old devices are correctly decommissioned and returned to the Leicester hub.
• Liaise with internal teams to track deployment progress and resolve issues promptly.

Leicester-Based Role:

• Assist in the build and preparation of devices at the Leicester office.
• Ensure devices are ready for shipment to stores.
• Support logistics coordination for outbound and return shipping.

Field-Based Roles:

• Travel to assigned store locations across the UK (excluding London).
• Power up and configure deployed devices, including printer setup.
• Ensure a smooth handover by supporting store staff with basic usage and troubleshooting.
• Return old equipment to the Leicester hub post-deployment.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Experience in hardware deployments and device configuration (Windows, Surface).
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in retail environments.
• Confident in basic printer setup and configuration.
• Clear communication skills and professional demeanor when working on-site.
• Previous experience in field engineering or nationwide rollouts preferred.

Travel & Expenses:

• Reasonable expenses covered, including travel and accommodation where overnight stays are required.
