Network Security Engineer – Palo Alto Firewalls, DNS, VPN’s

As a member of the Security Technology Operations, the role will focus on providing technical and operational support for firewall, VPN, and DNS security management. This role is critical in ensuring timely, secure, and accurate execution of network security changes. 

Network Change Management

– Manage and execute firewall, VPN, and DNS security change requests through ServiceNow.

– Verify rule requests against security policies, standards, and design principles.

– Implement and document firewall rules in enterprise and data centre environments.

– Coordinate with requestors, network engineers, and project teams to minimise disruption.

– Monitor and report change SLAs and dependencies.

Operational Support

– Provide day-to-day support for firewall infrastructure and associated tooling (e.g., Cisco ASA/FTD, or equivalent).

– Conduct troubleshooting and validation testing after changes are made.

– Identify and address misconfigurations for optimal security and business enablement.

– Develop knowledge base articles, process maps, and technical documentation.

Governance and Continuous Improvement

– Identify and report potential risks or vulnerabilities related to network security configurations.

– Collaborate on automation and process improvement initiatives.

– Ensure compliance with internal standards, audits, and operational procedures.

– Participate in daily huddles and provide peer review for change management work.
