About the Company
Our client is a prestigious global organisation currently undergoing a large-scale transformation of its technology estate. They are reducing reliance on on-premises systems and moving toward resilient, cloud-first solutions. Their infrastructure team is compact but highly skilled, offering engineers broad exposure across the full technology stack – from networking and storage through to cloud platforms and automation.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking firm where you’ll play a key role in shaping and modernising global IT infrastructure.
The Role
As a Systems Engineer, you will design, implement, and manage enterprise IT systems across hybrid cloud and on-prem environments. You’ll support major transformation projects, ensure optimal system performance, and embed best practices in security and automation.
Your responsibilities will span:
-
Infrastructure & Virtualisation: networks, storage (VAST, vSAN, Pure), servers (VMware VCF, vSphere 8+, Windows Server 2019+), authentication, and mobility systems.
-
Cloud Platforms: Azure (primary), AWS (backup/storage, public web), with some exposure to GCP.
-
Microsoft Stack: Entra ID, Exchange Online, Microsoft 365, Group Policy, Certificate Services.
-
Automation & Scripting: Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines, PowerShell, and Python.
-
Security: applying zero-trust principles, hardening systems, SIEM integration, endpoint protection.
-
Containers: VMware Tanzu, Docker, Kubernetes.
You’ll also act as a mentor to colleagues, produce technical documentation, and collaborate with architecture, identity, and InfoSec teams to deliver enterprise-wide solutions.
Key Projects You’ll Be Involved In
-
Migration of workloads from on-premises to IaaS cloud environments.
-
Transition of disaster recovery to a resilient, cloud-based solution.
-
Automation of repetitive operational processes.
-
Migration of a core document management system into Azure.
-
Integration of modern storage platforms (VAST, vSAN).
Ideal Candidate Profile
-
7+ years’ experience in systems analysis/engineering within mid-to-large scale organisations.
-
5+ years’ experience with Microsoft server systems and VMware technologies (vSphere 8+, vSAN, Tanzu).
-
Strong background in Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, and hybrid cloud infrastructures.
-
Advanced knowledge of networks (SD-WAN, VPN, VLAN, WiFi, SASE) and storage (SAN, NAS, VAST, cloud-native).
-
Proficiency with scripting (PowerShell essential, Python desirable).
-
Hands-on experience with automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD).
-
Familiarity with enterprise backup, DR solutions, and system hardening.
-
Relevant certifications (Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Solutions Architect, CCNP) are advantageous.
Why Apply?
-
Join a prestigious global firm at a pivotal moment in its technology transformation.
-
Gain broad technical exposure across infrastructure, cloud, storage, and automation.
-
Work in a small, collaborative team where engineers play across multiple domains.
-
Direct involvement in major enterprise projects with global impact.
-
Hybrid working with flexibility and professional growth opportunities.
