The Role

Currently on the lookout for a Senior Web Developer with strong WordPress experience to join a fast paced, modern engineering team. You’ll collaborate closely with Project Managers and fellow Developers to architect, build, and maintain secure, performant digital platforms.

This role is ideal for a developer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, takes ownership of their work, and contributes to raising engineering standards across the team. You’ll play a key part in mentoring others, guiding technical decisions, and supporting cross‑project collaboration.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain high‑quality, secure, and scalable WordPress‑based digital products
  • Architect features, components, and systems at a project level
  • Provide code reviews and mentorship to other engineers
  • Develop custom Gutenberg blocks and components
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues effectively
  • Identify and address performance, security, and maintainability improvements
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and technical documentation
  • Collaborate with designers to turn static designs into reusable, flexible components
  • Participate professionally in client meetings and technical discussions
  • Estimate development tasks (training provided)
  • Manage your workload across multiple concurrent tasks

What We’re Looking For

You don’t need every item, but you’ll thrive if you have most of the following:

  • 4–5 years of professional WordPress development experience
  • Strong PHP and/or JavaScript skills
  • Familiarity with modern web development (vanilla JS, React, or similar frameworks)
  • Hands‑on experience with Gutenberg and custom block development
  • Strong debugging skills
  • Good understanding of MySQL and database‑driven applications
  • Experience working with RESTful APIs
  • Awareness of performance and security best practices
  • Ability to clearly communicate with technical and non‑technical stakeholders
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks

What’s in It for You

  • £500 annual training budget for professional development and conferences
  • Remote‑first working
  • Supportive, positive team environment
  • Dedicated learning and development time
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Discounts via a corporate rewards platform (restaurants, cinema, retail)
  • High‑quality Apple equipment provided
