La Fosse are currently partnering with a Professional Services client who are looking to recruit a Lead Database Administrator into their team. This role offers flexible/remote working for the right candidate as long as it’s based in the UK, but ideally would be commutable to one of three locations, which are Haywards Heath, Salford Quays or Guernsey.

This role is paying £53,000 – £84,000 depending on experience and comes with an exciting and attractive benefits package.

As the Database Lead, you’ll lead, coach and deliver the vision of the Data as a Service function (DaaS). This will ensure the Company’s operational systems and platforms have highly available quality data, resilient, scalable and performant systems, delivered in line with business demand and to agreed service levels.

Skills, knowledge & experience required:

  • Strong experience in a DBA or similar comparable role and MCSE: Data Platform or equivalent
  • ITIL Foundation certified (v3 or 4)
  • Excellent understanding and experience of Microsoft SQL Server and its technical underpinnings
  • Good understanding and experience of SQL Server development including T-SQL queries, stored procedures, user defined functions, views, indexes etc
  • Dispute resolution and change management
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, identifying root causes and offering solutions

Database Administrator

This role presents an exciting opportunity for a Database Administrator to be responsible for the management and administration of the company’s applications which have databases associated to them, specifically related to Oracle and MS SQL Server. The role will oversee the day to day running of the application and database tasks such as housekeeping, administration, maintenance, and security.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Manage, support and administer the company’s core application and database systems in compliance with SLAs
  • Assist projects with system and database design, implementation, support and understanding requirements set out by the Project Manager
  • Manage, plan, and implement monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and annual processes (e.g., Vulnerability Mgt, Database Audit processes, Capacity planning, License reconciliations, Database patching, Software releases and Roadmaps)
  • Assist in recovering core company’s database and related systems during Disaster Recovery Tests and ensuring the company can continue in business in the event of a disaster itself
  • Working knowledge and experience of Oracle 12c & 19c version relational databases
  • Working knowledge and experience of MS SQL Server 2014 through to 2019 databases.
  • Working knowledge of core operating systems (Microsoft Windows server 2016 onwards and Red Hat Linux)
  • In-depth understanding of Oracle database related tools and techniques (OEM/Grid Control, Toad, Putty, ASM, SQL Developer, ODBC, etc. etc.)
  • In-depth understanding of MS SQL Server database related tools and techniques (SSMS, SQL Server Config Mgr / Profiler / Activity Monitor / Database ETA, etc. etc.)
  • In-depth understanding of database high availability concepts for both Oracle and MS SQL Server systems (e.g. RAC, ASM, ADG, AlwaysOn High Availability, Clustering, Mirroring, Replication, Log Shipping, etc. etc.)
  • Working knowledge of T-SQL and PL/SQL
  • Working knowledge of 24-by-7 operational practices and their associated applications
  • In depth knowledge of security and administration of Oracle & MS SQL Server

​SQL Database Administrator (DBA)

In search for a SQL Database Administrator for an initial 3-month contract with a view to extend further. Key responsibility will be to provide key technology support, maintenance and implementation to the wider organisation and its business partners for technology related developments.

It is important to have the right technical skills such as Hyper V, SQL, Real-time analysis for this role.

Key skills and responsibilities:

  • Manage SQL Server databases
  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes hosted on Hyper V HCI cluster technology
  • Monitor DB Infra system’s health and performance

Senior Database Administrator

We are currently working with a financial advisor, who are looking for a Senior Database Administrator to provide support and guidance to the business, as well as managing and developing their database systems.

You will be responsible for all support and projects related to new and existing databases and be part of the wider EU Infrastructure team.

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Strong knowledge of SSRS, SSIS and SSAS.
  • Extensive knowledge of T-SQL and SQL Server DMVs.
  • Experience using SSMS, Profiler, SQLCMD and Extended Events.
  • Knowledge of Database encryption.
  • Significant experience with PowerShell and Visual Studio
  • Knowledge of clustering, SAN and virtualisation
  • Excellent communication skills.
