Alongside the data warehouse improvements, there is a requirement to help improve the data strategy and mature the roadmap, making the successful candidate someone who still leads technically, has led a small team and also working with the business strategically.

Business Intelligence Manager with experience in data analysis, data modelling, and data architecture required by media/broadcasting client to effectively consult internal and external client teams on making tactical and strategic investment decisions to improve business results.

The Business Intelligence Manager will be an initial 6 month contract, inside IR35, working for a global media and broadcasting company – contract role based in London (initially remote with transition to hybrid in near future).

The Business Intelligence Manager will ideally have experience in the following:

  • Excellent computer (Excel, Access, PowerPoint) skills.

  • Strong knowledge on how data can be used to find insight and how to effectively utilise said insight.

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced BI Delivery Manager to join a leading and reputable retailer to manage the engineering function that delivers store system changes and overseeing third party delivery partners. You will play a key role in helping to ensure the successful delivery of dependent projects across other areas of the IT function.

You will manage and lead the team responsible for the Google Cloud Platform based Business Intelligence solution. This will include the identification of new data, its ingestion, aggregation, security, scheduling, reporting and continuous improvement, utilising concepts to drive efficiencies into the reporting estate.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead the technical delivery of the Google Cloud Platform based BI solution.
  • Promote empowerment of the team, ensuring high engagement and all team members are making a meaningful contribution, whilst encouraging a sustainable pace with high levels of quality for the team.
  • The majority of the engineering and testing resources are provided through third parties, with most resources nearshore / offshore, solid communication techniques to tackle working remotely with these teams.
  • Build and maintain relationships with third party delivery managers, whilst challenging to ensure value for money.
  • Partner with product owners and third party delivery managers and identify and schedule deliverables, release milestones, required activities and tasks.
  • Review and approve work plans for external delivery teams.
  • The role will report to the Head of Enterprise Engineering and will help optimise costs, feeding into budgets and forecasts. It will conduct risk and issue assessment and mitigation, and ensure that development delivery goals are in line with business objectives and priorities.

Must Haves:

  • Excellent experience delivering change to retail technology and systems.
  • Strong stakeholder relationship building and communication, and presentation skills.
  • Experience of Scrum management
  • Experience of directing and managing third-party delivery teams, multiple vendors, and nearshore / offshore teams.
  • Demonstrable experience of Agile, Waterfall, and Wagile Methodologies.
  • Knowledge and experience of project planning/scheduling tools (.i.e. Microsoft Project/Open Workbench), with a solid track record of practical application.
  • Experience of delivering developments for multiple change projects and managing interdependencies and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to work effectively with the business and IT, at all levels.
  • Excellent prioritising skills with ability to re-plan in line with inevitable change within business needs and strong analytical skills.
