AIX Engineer

Role – AIX Engineer
Location – Remote (Very occasional need to travel to Oxford)
Salary – Up to £60,000 + Cash Car Allowance + Bonus + Oncall + Benefits

The position:

As an AIX Cloud Engineer, you will be a vital member of the IT team, responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of AIX cloud solutions, particularly in the context of IBM Cloud. Your role will focus on ensuring the reliable, secure, and efficient operation of AIX-based infrastructure in a cloud environment, including the use of GLVM (Global Logical Volume Manager) technology.

As part of your key responsibilities you’ll:

• Design, deploy, and manage AIX cloud solutions in IBM Cloud to support business objectives, ensuring high availability and scalability
• Collaborate closely with various teams, including IT, Operations, and Finance, to develop and implement cost-effective AIX cloud designs and architectures in an IBM Cloud environment
• Maintain, upgrade and optimize AIX cloud environments in IBM Cloud, ensuring security, performance, and compliance with industry standards, including the use of GLVM technology
• Provide technical support for AIX-based systems in IBM Cloud and resolve issues promptly and effectively
• Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides
• Contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity planning for AIX cloud resources in IBM Cloud
• Stay informed about emerging technologies and best practices in cloud engineering, AIX administration, and related areas, with a focus on IBM Cloud and GLVM
• Participate in capacity planning and performance tuning of AIX cloud resources in IBM Cloud
• Clustering technologies (preferably PowerHA)
• Automation experience
• Scripting experience (eg: ksh, bash)
