What is the role of a BI Analyst?
The role of a Business Intelligence Analyst is to gather and analyse data in order to identify trends and patterns that may be used to inform future business decisions. Some of the responsibilities of a BI analyst include complex data modelling, designing data analysis methodologies, and compiling management reports to deliver their findings to senior members.
Responsibilities
To work with a business to understand what insight they need and propose the solution
Ensuring the regular delivery of key reports and data to the business at all times
Analysing and eliminating any processes or procedures that contribute to the collection of unreliable data
Develop Power BI to present the data in an engaging and interactive way
To be able to analyse complex datasets and cleanse data
Split their time between engaging within the business and hands-on SQL development work
Engage with colleagues within the company to elicit data requests, issues, and requirements
Conduct investigative and critical analysis on new and existing data sources, analyse and interpret key performance measures and trends in multidimensional datasets

Qualifications
A forward thinking, practical individual with a positive problem-solving mentality
Experience in a similar role or background is essential
Ability to provide easy-to-understand commercial insights to internal and external customers using BI Tools
Ability to translate business problems into SQL queries
A thorough understanding of SQL and data modelling, as well as database design and management
In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework
Excellent visualisation skills
The ability to work with a degree of independence on certain projects
Excellent interpersonal & communication skills with ability to work with technical and non-technical colleagues
