Senior Data Engineer

Senior/Lead Data Engineer | London + WFH | 75k plus package

I'm currently working with one of the world's leading media and entertainment groups. Whether it be on-air, via online player or through our ever-increasing outdoor advertising, they entertain and reach over 50 million individuals across the UK every week. Their company ethos is to be committed to making more moments that matter for our audiences, customers and for each other.

We're looking for a highly skilled data engineer who'll help to build and operate large-scale data pipelines that are capable of withstanding the companies growth and ambitions. You will build data products and capabilities across a variety of business domains, play a central role in shaping and defining data architecture at a pivotal time for data strategy and work with a team of data experts, passionate about building scalable data service.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Building and evolving key data platforms, services and pipelines
  • Leading the development of streaming systems and Big Data management
  • Be a thought leader in data tooling, systems and techniques
  • Be accountable for delivering data services that produce tangible business value
  • Provide training and support for others within the team

Key Requirements for this Role:

  • Designing, building and launching highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, transformation and loading of datasets
  • Monitoring data reliability and infrastructure performance
  • Agile methodologies and continuous delivery
  • Continuous integration pipelines and technologies
  • Large-scale streaming data (Kafka, Kinesis, etc.)
  • Proficiency with cloud services (ideally AWS - also Azure, GCP)
  • Proficiency with programming languages (Python, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Big Data systems (Spark, Hadoop, Pig, etc.)
  • Proficiency with SQL databases (Relational, Snowflake, etc.)
  • Proficiency with structured or custom ETL management (Airflow, Luigi, etc.)
  • The ability to communicate with a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders
