Location: London (1/2 x a month in office)

£90,000 per annum

La Fosse have partnered with a well established health tech company who are on a mission to revolutionize healthcare through innovative technology solutions. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Data Engineering to lead this greenfield project in building a cutting-edge Data Platform hosted on Azure. This role is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional who is passionate about leveraging data to drive advancements in healthcare.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a comprehensive roadmap for the creation and implementation of a new Data Platform on Azure, with a focus on data engineering using Python and SQL.
• Data Engineering: Take a hands-on approach to data engineering tasks, ensuring the development of efficient and scalable data pipelines using Python and SQL.
• Capability Building: Establish a robust Data Engineering capability within the organization, including defining processes, best practices, and standards.
• Team Building: Recruit, lead, and mentor a team of Data Engineers skilled in Python and SQL to support the growth and success of the Data Platform.
• Technology Selection: Evaluate and select appropriate technologies and tools for the Data Platform, considering scalability, performance, and security, with a focus on Python and SQL.
• Quality Assurance: Implement strong data governance and quality assurance practices to ensure accuracy and reliability of the data.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in building and managing data engineering teams and platforms, preferably in the healthcare or related industry.
• Strong background in data engineering, with hands-on experience in designing and implementing data pipelines using Python and SQL.
• Expertise in cloud-based platforms, particularly Azure.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Additional Information:

• Core programming languages: Python and SQL.
• Core Azure experience is essential for this role.
• Remote-friendly role with periodic workshops which you will be expected to lead on in thereLondon office for collaboration and training sessions with the Data Engineering team (approx. 1-2 times a month, potentially more).
