Job Title: Lead Engineer – Suspension

Location: Gothenburg, Sweden

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Suspension Engineer to join our growing team in Gothenburg. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end development of suspension system components—from design through validation—ensuring performance, durability, and cost targets are met. This is a key technical position within a fast-paced, collaborative, and cross-functional product development environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of suspension system components including air springs, coil springs, dampers, spring aids, anti-roll bars (ARB), link arms, and subframes.

  • Define specifications, verification criteria, and integration strategies for both individual components and the complete suspension system.

  • Author DPRs/TRs, conduct design reviews, define component test plans, and review and sign off DV/PV test results.

  • Collaborate closely with System Architects and Attribute Teams to finalize system requirements and performance targets.

  • Work with suppliers to ensure component development meets cost, quality, performance, and timeline goals.

  • Coordinate with CAE, testing, and validation teams for requirement verification and issue resolution.

  • Ensure all deliverables and documentation are completed in accordance with the New Product Development (NPD) process.

  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

  • 8–10 years of experience in suspension system design and development within the automotive industry.

  • Strong understanding of the product development lifecycle, from concept to production.

  • Hands-on experience with key suspension system elements:

    • System sizing and performance analysis

    • Durability and endurance requirements

    • Vehicle dynamics tuning

    • Material selection and failure analysis

    • DFM/DFA best practices

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage supplier relationships.

  • Experience with component and system documentation: DFMEA, DPR, ESOW, DV/PV plans.

  • Knowledge of BOM management (EBOM, MBOM) with tools like Teamcenter/KDP.

  • Proficient in interpreting 2D/3D technical drawings, GD&T, and sign-off documentation.

  • Familiarity with NVH performance validation and root-cause analysis is a plus.
