Position – Cloud Engineering Manager

Location – Watford/Northampton

Salary – £70,000 to £90,000 plus benefits package

Background:

We are currently working with a global furniture manufacturer, who are looking for a Cloud Engineering Manager. You will be responsible for the development and provisioning of the organisation’s Cloud platforms, adopting a product mindset to produce opinionated systems, tooling and frameworks that automate tasks and provide scalable, secure, and reliable modern cloud platforms in accordance with our standards and patterns.

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Broad experience (of at least 2 to 3 years) within the Cloud Technologies and Platforms, including but not limited to:
    • Azure / AWS Cloud
    • Azure Landing Zone
    • Azure Active Directory (Identity Management, Service Principles, Security Groups, Role Management, MFA)
    • Cloud Security and Connectivity (vNet, DNS, Firewalls, Express Route / Direct Connect, VPN, GTM, NSG)
    • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, Ansible)
    • DevOps (git Repository/ Deployment pipeline)
  • Experience and use of modern DevOps philosophies and culture.
  • Understanding of Security technologies and log management (SIEM)
  • Understand and be able to code in at least one scripting language such as (Powershell, Javascript)
  • Excellent communicator, able to influence decision makers and work successfully in cross-functional teams
  • Ability to solve complex technical, managerial, or operational problems and evaluate options based on relevant information, resources, well-rounded experience, and knowledge.
  • Ability to operate at advanced levels of authority and manage significant activities and resources to produce and take responsibility for results
  • Good commercial awareness and business acumen
  • Experience of Azure DevOps (AZDO)
  • Experience of both waterfall and agile project management methodologies

Engineering Manager

Salary: £800 – £1,000 per day

Location: London

Technologies: C#, Azure, Docker, Microservices

We are currently working with one of London’s leading FinTech companies that are looking for an engineering manager to join them on a contract basis.

  • This company was bought by several PE houses a few years ago. Since then, they have bought all engineering in house and have built several lines of service to which they’re looking to scale and take their entire chains and products into the banking sector.

  • This person will need to be extremely well versed with API’s as this is going to be a key part of the role, making a reusable and scalable product to which they can take out to market. This person will be in change of 7 teams. Each team has their own manager which will report directly into this engineering manager (roughly 50 people in tech team).

  • They’re currently a Microsoft house and it will be staying that way for the foreseeable future, so this person will need to be extremely well versed with C#/.NET. They’re also currently working one day per week in their London based office, with a view to moving to a hybrid model from September.

  • This role will fall most likely fall inside of IR35 with interview slots available from next week!

My client is a prestigious global retailer and one of the most renowned fashion names in the world.

This role is for an Engineering Manager with a focus on back-end/platform services/APIs. Your role is going to be pivotal in building their in-houe engineering team and also expanding their website features.

You will have long standing experience of building and managing technical delivery teams in an agile and product-centric technology team.

  • – You are technical and able to guide engineers and steer technical direction

  • – You are able to be hands-on if needed

  • – Have a background in backend development, JVM languages would be ideal

  • – You are a great people manager, showing great pastoral care and performance management

  • – You will be accountable for both delivery and people management so you’ll need to have previous experience of project delivery

People Management Focussed Role

Salary: £130,000 per annum + bonus + benefits

Location: London

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • * Recruit and lead technical talent (currently a team of 5-10 engineers) in line with business requirements and technical roadmaps

  • * Be both highly technical and an effective people manager enabling the tech team to perform to a high standard

  • * Collaborate with various functions, drive engineering initiatives, and have an impact at an organisational level

  • * Measure the impact of your team and set clear expectations and goals

  • * Work with the CTO to develop and implement the strategy for technological development

You will be accountable for:

  • Act as an advocate for technology vision both within the engineering community and the wider business community
  • Develop a high-performance culture
  • Bring a product-led and agile working mindset to the business
  • Management of the platform, broader architecture, roadmap delivery and engineering function
  • Establish technical best practices, policies, ways of working, testing and delivery strategies,
  • Designing, maintaining and delivering a coherent, well designed, scalable and robust technology architecture
  • Partner with Product Managers, Tech Leads and Senior Engineers to help build and achieve product roadmap plans with a high level of quality

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience of software development in FinTech , startups or scale up environments would be a huge plus
  • A background in development with strong prior experience in languages and frameworks such as Java, Python, JavaScript, Node.js, Spring Boot, Flask, Kotlin
  • Experience working in scaling teams where recruitment was a focus
  • Experience with people management including 121’s, performance reviews and improving culture

  • Ship . You will test, talk with users, analyse trends and deploy code on a frequent basis.
  • Lead . You will lead quality discussions and promote QA best practice across the squad .
