As the Business Analyst – Payments, you will be responsible for:

Requirement Gathering & Analysis

    • Meet with product/project managers and business analysts to elicit detailed requirements
    • Lead problem definition with stakeholders and propose solutions for less complex issues
    • Analyse requirements to determine system needs, translating them into realistic goals and well-defined user stories
    • Run discovery workshops with product and engineering teams to refine understanding and capture requirements
  • Backlog Management & Agile Delivery
    • Create epics, features, and user stories in collaboration with engineering managers, software engineers, and systems analysts
    • Groom the engineering backlog and prioritize stories to ensure efficient delivery
    • Ensure JIRA artefacts are consistently created and maintained across multiple levels
    • Work with QA teams to define the “definition of done” for all requirements and artefacts
  • Project & Scope Management
    • Manage project scope, ensuring requirements are agreed and signed off at project inception
    • Capture and prioritize new requirements as projects evolve
    • Refine requirements throughout the project lifecycle and assist in effort estimation
  • Documentation
    • Improve templates for JIRA artefacts and write user guides or other customer-facing documentation

The successful Business Analyst – Payments, will bring:

  • Working knowledge in the Financial Services/Payments sector with an understanding of FCA regulated products
  • Relevant experience in requirements gathering and stakeholder relationship building
  • Experience working in cross-functional and large-scale projects
  • Proficiency with agile methodologies, including creating user stories, features, and epics
  • Expertise in JIRA and Confluence for backlog management and documentation
  • Familiarity with backend systems, API-driven architectures, and low-latency products
  • Knowledge of customer interaction with front ends
  • Understanding of payments, fraud, anti-money laundering, or machine learning (preferred)
  • The ability to run discovery workshops, capture outcomes, and refine requirements effectively
  • Demonstrated process improvement and enhancement to existing operations
  • A proactive approach, with the ability to manage workload independently and go beyond initial task scopes
