Technical Architect - Healthcare - Outside IR35 - £650/day

The client is looking for a Technical Architect to help build their participant facing platform - the first of its kind at this scale - that will support the UK's largest ever health research programme. Their tech stack is currently around 50% defined but they need expertise to guide our next steps. This role will suit someone who has experience in software engineering and architecture for large-scale, consumer-facing web systems.

Requirements

You may have some of the following:

  • Experience in software engineering across a variety of languages and frameworks.

  • Currently we have pilot/prototype components built using Typescript, Javascript (Node.js), Python and Ruby, but we are yet to settle on a stack for the longer term and are open-minded to using other technologies.

  • Domain expertise with large-scale consumer web and mobile services.

  • Experience of high availability live systems on AWS, GCP or Azure.

  • Hands-on experience with DevOps automation/infrastructure-as-code toolsets such as Docker, Terraform, Ansible and/or Kubernetes.

  • Familiarity with API design and architectural styles such as REST, OAuth, and architectural patterns such as microservices, serverless and/or federated systems.

  • Understanding of agile methodology used to code reviews and pairing.

  • Experience designing for scale and troubleshooting scaling and performance problems.

  • Good understanding of technology stacks, from networks up to applications.

Experience in a health domain would be extremely valuable, which could be clinical, wearables, consumer apps, genomics, pharma/life sciences or NHS. This role could also see someone growing a team around them in the future.
