Job title: Senior System Analyst/IT Business Analyst

Location: Bristol

Length of assignment: 6 Month (potential of Extention)

Pay to candidate: £400-450 per day Umbrella

Role Summary:

The role of the Senior Systems Analyst/IT Business Analyst is to support the realisation of business requirements through the systems development lifecycle, culminating in a documented technical solution for a new or existing business application.

Working collaboratively with product management and the development team, the successful candidate will be a pro-active and motivating team member who will play a role in shaping and defining the future and how we work.

As well as leading the delivery on individual features, the role will entail coordination of systems analysis activity across the product, from feature inception to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the analysis on critical initiatives which require significant strategic change on the product
  • Work with the Product Team to extract and understand their requirements for new and existing business applications
  • Assist in the technical investigation for new features and development to business applications
  • Using analysis concepts, convert business requirements into technical solutions by understanding technical constraints and existing technical architecture/functionality
  • Alongside the Product Owner and Systems Architect, undertake the initial triage of a new feature request to determine the appropriate entry point into the SDLC
  • Coordinate the solution design and estimation of new requirements across the product
  • Lead the allocation of features to Systems Analysts, in conjunction with the Delivery Leads
  • Reporting of feature progress and generation of delivery roadmaps
  • Provide support and guidance, including line management in some cases, to the Systems Analysts across the product
  • Ensure that analysis standards and processes are followed throughout the SDLC lifecycle across the product
  • Actively contribute towards continuously improving the Systems Analyst function in the department

Experience & Education Requirements:

Essential:

  • Experience in delivery IT projects using an Agile methodology
  • Proven track record of successful delivery of major software projects
  • Extensive experience of working in a project environment
  • Experience in leading and coordinating a team of Systems Analysts

Desirable:

  • Commercial / contractual awareness
  • Financial Services background
  • Experience of agile transformation
  • Specification by Example

Competencies:

  • Ability to communicate with people, using appropriate resources, at all levels of an organisation
  • Producing high quality documentation that is clear, concise and relevant
  • Ability to conceptualise, e.g. to identify commonality across apparently different systems
  • An appreciation of how technical and functional solutions can be combined to provide a total 'fit' to customers' requirements
  • Experience of defining requirements, writing use cases and defining system/ acceptance tests
  • Structured thought processes, strong judgement, decision making and problem solving abilities
  • Sound understanding of the underlying technology concepts required to deliver client solutions
  • A working knowledge of IT architecture principles
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines with proven planning and organising skills
  • Have participated in full lifecycle development on large projects (more than 15 people and longer than 6 months)
  • Good domain knowledge in one of the following industry sectors: Finance, Insurance
