Senior Software Engineer – Build AI for the Charity Sector
Location: 3-4x a week in London office
Salary: £80,000 – £100,000 + Equity
Our client is an ambitious start-up revolutionizing the way charities work. With a mission to simplify the complexity of the charity sector through AI-powered solutions, they are building a platform that saves organizations time, increases access to their services, and enables them to secure more funding. The sector is massive, yet under-served by technology, and this company is at the forefront of solving this critical problem.
The Opportunity
This is your chance to join a passionate and purpose-driven team on a mission to make a tangible impact. As part of their small high-impact team, you will play a key role in shaping the technology and product, while directly contributing to the overall success and growth of the company.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Developing Core Product: Build front-end and back-end features, mostly focused on front-end development with JavaScript, NextJs (and some TypeScript).
- Shaping the Architecture: Design and implement scalable, robust systems that solve real-world problems for charities.
- AI Integration: Help build out AI-powered tools that enable charities to analyse data and create impact reports to secure funding.
- Customer-Focused Development: Collaborate with customers (charities and funders) to understand their needs and ensure the product is delivering maximum value.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the co-founders and the engineering team to deliver high-quality, user-centric solutions in an fast-paced, dynamic environment.
What They’re Looking For
- Experience: You’ve got several years of experience in full-stack development, with strong knowledge of JavaScript and ideally some experience with TypeScript. Experience with React is a must, and familiarity with Elasticsearch would be a plus.
- Customer-First Mindset: You’re excited about using your engineering skills to make a positive impact, and you understand the challenges faced by small, local charities.
- Ownership: You are comfortable taking on complex features from initial design to production, and are willing to learn and grow with the company.
- Self-Driven & Collaborative: You thrive in a small, dynamic team, taking initiative while working closely with others to solve tough problems.
- Tech Stack Familiarity: Experience with front-end technologies (NextJS, React, TailwindCSS) and back-end systems (Firebase, NoSQL databases) is ideal.
- Agile & Quality-First: You are familiar with Git, agile methodologies, testing, and writing clean, maintainable code.
What They Value
- Mission First: Charities come first-everything they do is driven by the mission to support charities in achieving their goals.
- Transparency: They value honesty, openness, and a willingness to learn from others.
- Speed & Execution: The team moves fast to build solutions that have an immediate impact.
- Kindness & Respect: They believe in empathy and respect in every interaction-whether with a customer or a colleague.
