Job Title: Senior Project Manager

Location: Head office - Chessington Based / Flexible working

Salary: £78,000 + £5,000 Car Allowance + Bonus

Senior Project Manager is required to join a healthcare industry. The purpose of this role is to take full responsibility for the definition, documentation, and successful completion of complex projects or programmes, whilst carefully managing senior business stakeholders.

Leads the execution of a portfolio of programmes and projects. Plans, schedules, monitors, and reports on activities to ensure that each part of the portfolio contributes to the overall achievement of the portfolio objectives and to own the successful utilisation of an IT capital budget in excess of £3million per annum.

Identifies issues with portfolio structure, cost, risk, inter-dependencies, impact on current business activities and the strategic benefits to be realised.

Ensures the use of an industry standard best practice framework for the management of project and programmes (such as MSP, PRINCE2, AGILE). Manages resources and coordinates internal and third-party teams to deliver projects and programmes according to agreed plans. Ensures that programme management is informed by an awareness of current technical developments.

Leads Project Managers to ensure timely delivery of projects to agreed budget and provides operational direction, support, coaching and guidance as required, ensuring quality and performance against agreed criteria.

Responsibilities:

Portfolio Management - Leads the definition of a portfolio of programmes, projects, and/or on-going service provision. Engages and influences senior managers to ensure the portfolio will deliver the agreed business objectives. Plans, schedules, monitors and reports on activities related to the portfolio to ensure that each part of the portfolio contributes to the overall achievement of the portfolio. Collects, summarises and reports on portfolio KPIs often through the deployment of business management processes and systems. Identifies issues with portfolio structure, cost, risk, inter-dependencies, impact on current business activities and the strategic benefits to be realised. Notifies projects/programmes/change initiatives of issues and recommends and monitors corrective action. Reports on portfolio status as appropriate.

Programme Management: Plans, directs, and co-ordinates activities to manage and implement a programme from contract /proposal initiation to final operational stage including the transition into "business-as-usual"; plans, schedules, monitors, and reports on activities related to the programme. Ensures that programmes are managed to realise business benefits and that programme management is informed by an awareness of current technical developments.

Project Management: Takes full responsibility for the definition, documentation, and successful completion of complex projects. Adopts and adapts project management methods and tools. Ensures that effective project monitoring and control processes, change control, risk management and quality processes are employed and maintained. Monitors and controls resources, revenue and capital expenditures against the project budget. Manages the expectations of key project stakeholders.

Portfolio, programme, and project support: Takes responsibility for the provision of portfolio, programme, and project support. Advises on the available standards, procedures, methods, tools and techniques. Evaluates project and/or programme performance and recommends changes where necessary. Contributes to reviews and audits of project and programme management to ensure conformance to standards.

Stakeholder Relationship Management: Collects and uses feedback from customers and stakeholders to help measure effectiveness of stakeholder management. Helps develop and enhance customer and stakeholder relationships. Implements a communications strategy, including, for example, handling of complaints; problems and issues; managing resolutions; corrective actions and lessons learned; collection and dissemination of relevant information appropriately.

Performance Management: Provides operational direction, support, and guidance to assigned colleagues. Allocates routine tasks or project work, in line with team objectives and individual capabilities. Monitors quality and performance against agreed criteria to make learning recommendations or to escalate concerns. Coach's colleagues in developing target skills and capabilities in line with team and personal goals. Facilitates effective working relationships between team members.

Methods and Tools: Sets direction and leads in the introduction and use of techniques, methodologies, and tools, to match overall business requirements (both current and future), ensuring consistency across all user groups.

Relationship management: Identifies the communications needs of each stakeholder group in conjunction with business owners and subject matter experts. Translates communications / stakeholder engagement strategies into specific tasks. Facilitates open communication and discussion between stakeholders, acting as a single point of contact by developing, maintaining, and working to stakeholder engagement strategies and plans. Negotiates with stakeholders at senior levels, ensuring that organisational policy and strategies are adhered to. Provides informed feedback to assess and promote understanding.
