Job Title: Senior Portfolio and Capacity Manager

Contract type: Permanent, full time

Location: Hybrid (onsite in Durham dependant on business requirements)

Salary: £42,149 - £50,296 per annum

Reports to: Head of Project Delivery

We have an amazing permanent opportunity working with a Russell Group university who have been ranked in the World's Top 100 universities by QS in 2022. They are looking to appoint a Senior Portfolio and Capacity Manager to define and implement capacity planning and modelling processes for an exciting programme.

The University portfolio has an annual budget of £10m. The portfolio includes recent infrastructure improvements, business led IT projects with a new web programme, training platform, student relationship management system alongside corresponding business change. This role is crucial and will balance the demands on the department and ensure there are agreed delivery roadmaps with appropriate prioritisation.

This role will involve working proactively with the PMO, stakeholders and Service Owners to ensure forward resource planning is aligned across the portfolio. Responsibilities will include preparing and maintaining schedules of portfolio activities, providing oversight, identifying and managing resource dependencies/risks at the portfolio level.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Experience preparing and maintaining schedules of portfolio activities and events, taking account of dependencies and resource requirements.

  • Experience of resource capacity and/or portfolio management.

  • Experience defining and implementing capacity planning and modelling ensuring forward resource planning is aligned across the portfolio.

  • Experience providing oversight and maintaining performance metrics across the portfolio

  • Experience successfully working with, supporting and influencing senior sponsors and stakeholders to agree delivery priorities.

  • Proven IT skills, including Microsoft Office

  • Project Management qualification (such as PRINCE 2/Agile/PMP) or equivalent experience of working in a project management environment.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to balance conflicting and changing demands through effective prioritisation and a pragmatic approach.

  • Experience within Education, Public or the Third Sector is advantageous
