Senior IT Business Analyst - EMEA

La Fosse Associates are working with a global Insurance company who are seeking an IT Business Analyst to work closely with the IT Leadership and further business partners to define the right requirements and find the right solutions. The role is a permanent position, primarily focussed on system enhancement projects and production support requests for the core policy system running across the EMEA region.

The role is suited to an experience IT Business Analyst who is comfortable in a varied role, with elements of Project Management. The role involves working closely with stakeholders across different EMEA counties and an offshore team, therefore, will require excellent communication skills and the ability to elicit requirements and work successfully through remote relationships.

The client offers a busy environment and will be an excellent opportunity for an organised applicant who is comfortable multitasking, prioritising effectively and using own initiative. The ideal background would be a Business Analyst with 3+ years in a Financial Services environment who is experienced working multiple projects and is flexible and adaptable in nature.

The IT BA is expected to influence and challenge the business to elicit clear requirements by building up sound business relationships across the business at all levels.

The role is based in either Leadenhall, London or Crawley however as teams are based in both Crawley & London locations the expectation is that the individual will need to able to deliver a full working day at either location. Therefore, applicants need to be within reasonable commutable distance of both locations. We are open to discuss flexible working options.

The client has an exciting Digital program of work which the IT BA would be working on some elements as part of the ongoing activities to build out the foundational capabilities to support new business deals.


  • Responsible for the capturing and maturing of the business requirements for the small change and larger enhancements

  • The IT BA will depending on skill and experience be involved in large projects or will be involved in system enhancement projects and production support requests for the core policy system running across the EMEA region

  • The IT BA will need to follow the Change Delivery Framework to take ownership of projects from the high-level requirements phase through to delivery

  • Provide indications as to the feasibility of the requirements from a technology perspective and to guide the business towards a solution that best fits their needs

  • Liaison among key stakeholders, including other IT Business Analysts, Enterprise Architects, Technical Analysts, business clients and third party on/offshore IT providers.

  • Good communication skills and an ability to push back to senior stakeholders when necessary is fundamental to the role.

  • As part of the Business Requirements and Software Requirements documentation using both agile and waterfall methodologies to define processes, amend existing reports or define new system functionality.

  • The IT BA will need to work closely with outsourcing IT partners (on/offshore) and respond to requirements / functional design queries during the software build phase.

  • The IT BA will provide the interface between the Business and the Development Teams with regards to defining the solution requirements through engagement with third-party providers. This role will require good technical skills, and business systems knowledge to turn business requirements into a well-documented solution. This will evolve as the ability to problem solve and recommend alternative solutions within the existing system landscape.

  • The IT BA will be required to co-ordinate the UAT activities with the business and review the results of system test activities with offshore providers.

  • The role would suit someone who can work on their own initiative and within a larger team of IT BAs within the IT organisation.


  • 4 years+ experience within Business Analysis

  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills

  • Strong analytical, reasoning, organisational and negotiation skills

  • Experience of functional specification production

  • Communicating with all levels of both business and IT teams

  • Strong ability to work on several projects simultaneously and to work tasks without daily supervisor interaction

  • Ambitious - Proactive, investigative, willing to challenge assumptions and defend solution proposals at all levels

  • Strong knowledge of both Agile and Waterfall methodologies

  • Understanding of the application development lifecycle

  • Competency in data manipulation and query preparation using appropriate varied and assorted tools on multiple platforms.

  • Experience with outsourcing and external third-party suppliers/partners

  • Able to travel for meetings/workshops held in offices in the UK (Crawley in particular) and Europe (occasional)

  • Insurance or financial services and digital transformation domain knowledge

  • European language skills would be advantageous but not essential
