Salary: £65,000 - £80,000 plus benefits

The role has overall responsibility in leading enterprise scale application management including delivery and support, for a company with over 18 million customers per year.

This individual will manage a team of 5 with an OPEX budget of c.£5m.

Key Objectives & Responsibilities

  • Line management of the insourced IT Application Management team. Management of the IT Application Management OPEX budget (c£5m).
  • Providing leadership and direction (technology and people) to the Application Management function and team.
  • Owning and delivering an enterprise application strategy which supports both IT and wider business objectives.
  • Leading and managing internal and third party resources as required to plan, design, build and run the enterprise application portfolio.
  • Implementing and continuously improving best practice application lifecycle management across all enterprise applications.
  • Defining and implementing best practice enterprise application architecture and enterprise application integration principles and standards.
  • Owning, building and managing the architectural roadmap for enterprise applications, ensuring all applications provide the required level of utility (functionality) and warranty (availability, performance, capacity, security and continuity)

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Relevant experience of delivering an enterprise application strategy
  • Expert knowledge and extensive hands on experience of implementing and maturing best practice application lifecycle management.
  • A fast learner with an inherent ability to understand and interpret complex business requirements and to identify and deliver appropriate technology solutions.
  • Proven experience in providing technical and delivery leadership of complex large scale application initiatives including new system implementations, upgrades and integrations
  • Working knowledge and previous practical experience of multi-vendor enterprise application integration with a strong understanding of web services and SOA (REST/SOAP/WSDL).
  • A self-starter with an organised and methodical approach and a proven ability to build a successful team to deliver measurable success.
  • A strong understanding of ITSM best practice, ideally ITIL V3 foundation certified.
