Senior Infrastructure Project Manager (12 Month FTC)

Summary

The Senior Infrastructure Project Manager is responsible for the delivery of a major data centre migration to Azure cloud. The role will encompass rapidly finalising planning and scope and then managing the execution phase to ensure all in scope systems are acted upon according to plan with a migration, rebuild or retirement action.

The estate to be migrated is largely based upon virtual machines (approx. 300 OS/application instances) along with associated storage and databases and infra/network services. The project manager will need to form an extended delivery team to ensure owners of in scope services are mobilized in support of the migration activity with particular emphasis on testing and qualification of migrated services. The project manager will need a strong record of delivery for major infrastructure change programmes with excellent dependency and stakeholder management.

Key Skills:

  • Excellent technical project management delivery track-record within large-scale infrastructure change programmes

  • Experience of large scale technology change programmes in an enterprise setting

  • Experience of public cloud technology projects essential, ideally in Microsoft Azure

  • Experience of data centre to public cloud migrations with understanding of the application of cloud migration strategies such as lift and shift, rebuild, re-platform, etc.

  • Demonstrable experience of data centre and infrastructure services such as storage, virtual machines and networking in both in self-hosted and public cloud environments

  • Able to develop and refine scope and requirements into an actionable, detailed plans

  • Strong leadership, able to oversee direct project resources and mobilize wider supporting resources as needed

  • Strong project management methodology experience in both agile and waterfall settings

  • Good reporting and stakeholder management

  • Able to track and deliver against defined commercial and budget plans

  • Self-reliant and able to influence
