The Opportunity:

The Senior Data Governance Manager will be responsible for establishing a team focused on driving cultural change with respect of data, where data is seen as fundamental to our success as a business, and the effective management of that data, from the point of entry, through to analytics is a core part of everybody's role. They will be responsible for embedding data governance across the business and ensuring regulatory compliance e.g. Solvency II.

To achieve this goal the Senior Data Governance Manager will be responsible for ensuring effective partnering of the various teams across the company that are involved in and support the day-to-day data quality activities and governance processes.

Your responsibilities for this role may include, but are not limited to:

  • Drive Cultural Change and Adoption
    • Lead a team to focussed on driving cultural adoption and ensuring data governance compliance in line with Data Strategy
    • Promote individual accountability through an ongoing performance management approach that aligns personal performance objectives with strategic goals
    • Drive and foster a culture of continuous improvement, motivation, collaboration, empowerment and buy-in across the business and central functions
  • Establish an Effective Operating Model
    • Establish clear accountability and roles for teams involved in data management across IT and the Business
    • Ensure relevant stakeholders are involved in the management of data quality assessments, attestation and reporting to maximize business ownership and embedding of the governance framework
    • Manage and enhance the relationships between the cross functional data quality teams and key business stakeholders to ensure data quality governance is compliant with Solvency II requirements and best practice
  • Provide Central Services
    • Ensure User Defined Applications are managed effectively with a clear Policy and assessment process
    • Deliver a data quality service including data profiling, ongoing reporting/assessment and issue management
    • Deliver a metadata management service including business catalogue, business rules and lineage
    • Provide oversight of the MDM, Adjustment and Reconciliation services to ensure alignment with the Data Governance framework and Data Strategy
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance
    • Provide leadership and direction to the company governance of data and reporting through Data Management Group, the MI & Data Steering Committee and Operational Management Group
    • Own the Solvency II data governance framework and ensure compliance with all the data related areas of Solvency II and further Lloyd's regulatory requirements as become relevant
    • Lloyd's Review - establish and lead a project to review the company's response and support for the Lloyd's Data Standards Control Framework
  • Establish effective Policy's, Frameworks and Governance Bodies
    • Own policies relating to overall data management, data quality and User Developed Applications, alongside the Data Governance Framework and relevant aspect of the Data Strategy
    • Oversee the development of effective management reporting and escalation processes to ensure the DMG, the MI & Data Steering Committee and all key stakeholders are suitably engaged and informed
    • Data Management Group - lead the monthly DMG and provide suitable representation at the MI & Data Steering Committee

You will need to be able to display you have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Extensive Insurance industry knowledge and experience in UK, European and Lloyd's markets including policy admin systems, claims management systems, processes, and business practices
  • Expert knowledge of data management methodologies, techniques, tools and best practices
  • Knowledge of change management principles and practices
  • Experience in meeting Solvency II data quality criteria and experience of consistent and constructive people management capabilities
  • Experience within a change environment
  • Significant experience in the management of data quality and the techniques used to support this
