Job Title: Senior Business Analyst

Salary: £55,000 - 60,000 + Benefits

Location: Southampton - Hybrid

Senior Business Analyst is required to join an international cruise line working in the Southampton office. The role is to reduce risk in project delivery and to maximise the return that the company receives from its investments in change projects. The Senior Business Analyst will be ensuring that project stakeholders have a shared understanding of the changes being delivered by a project. This will be built in with shared understanding to a level of detail and completeness sufficient to validate the project's business case and to form a sound basis for design, business impact and test activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Business Analysis activity within projects and programmes, ensuring that outcomes, scope, and requirements are captured, reviewed, and signed off to support intelligent, informed choices on how to approach, engineer and implement technology and business change

  • Able to choose between multiple solutions options (e.g., as part of an RFP process), the Senior BA is accountable for driving a requirements-driven, rational, structured, evidence-based decision-making process to ensure CUK selects the right option

  • Accountable within projects and programmes for the definition and management of scope - from high level scope to detailed requirements (including technology and business change)

  • Accountable within projects and programmes for ensuring that scope is aligned with the benefits required from each initiative. Accountable for evaluating and communicating the effect of scope decisions on initiative benefits.

  • Accountable for effectively challenging scope and complexity to increase benefits case / delivery pace and decrease cost of delivery

  • Accountable for ensuring that BA activity in each initiative strikes a pragmatic balance in the capture and delivery of requirements - distinguishing between those that are truly mandatory and those that are more risk based

  • Accountable for identifying and informing the choices each project must make on the pace, cost, and quality of Business Analysis activities within each individual change initiative

  • Accountable for the creation, maintenance and tracking of plans - including initiatives with multiple BA resources / workstreams

  • Accountable for positively engaging with and fully apply HESS principles and the fulfilment of regulatory obligations relevant to each project / programme

  • Act to resolve conflicts and escalations, identifying and escalating prioritisation decisions as necessary

  • Shared responsibility with Delivery and Architecture resources for ensuring each initiative can demonstrate compliance with its requirements

  • Accountable for defining and assuring standards and ways of working across the BA team. Perform peer reviews. Ensure own work is peer reviewed. Share skills with team members, coach colleagues on use of new skills.

  • May work on multiple projects simultaneously. Sets and negotiates priorities with colleagues

  • Identify and realise economies of scale and scope - reusing deliverables, sharing common resources, and driving intelligent decisions about the execution of related projects and programmes wherever possible

  • Accountable for ensuring that technical and business capability knowledge is shared.

  • Collaborate across the Technology department to improve traceability throughout the project lifecycle from discipline to discipline, ensuring related deliverables (e.g., requirements and design) are mutually consistent and as integrated as possible

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Experience performing Business Analysis activities; solutions requirements and business change within large, complex portfolios od delivery that include an IT component

  • Familiar with industry standard Business Analysis techniques and their application in a project environment

  • Experience working within a complex and large international organisation with broad range of capabilities and systems
