Security Engineer

Security Engineer – Remote (ad-hoc travel) – £61,500 + Car Allowance + Bonus + Benefits

La Fosse is partnered with a nationally recognised organisation to hire an Security Engineer. This is a key role within their platform team, focused on maturing infrastructure security and acting as the proactive link between SOC and Governance functions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct external scans, assess public-facing infrastructure, and proactively identify vulnerabilities.
• Define and implement technical security controls aligned with governance policies.
• Support threat modelling and threat hunting initiatives within a largely AWS environment.
• Contribute to the design and development of a new SIEM product.
• Provide engineering input into infrastructure and system design, setting clear security requirements.
• Assist with incident response and forensics investigations as needed.
• Work closely with SOC (alerting/response) and Governance (policy/risk) to deliver joined-up security improvements.

   

Requirements:

• Experience in security engineering with a focus on infrastructure.
• Hands-on exposure to tools such as Qualys, Rapid7, Sophos, or LogicMonitor.
• Knowledge of AWS cloud environments and infrastructure-level security controls.
• Scripting ability to automate tasks or processes (no requirement to integrate with dev teams).
• Comfortable operating as a solo security engineer and working across multiple teams.
• Previous involvement in SIEM, threat hunting, or security design is a plus.
