Quality Assurance Lead- Agile, test, automation

To lead Quality Assurance in a software development team to develop, deliver and support the company's application systems to meet business requirements using a range of agile techniques and knowledge of software development and software products. This is a "hands on" Quality Assurance development role.

The Role:

  • Evangelise Agile principles to establish and continuously improve efficient working practices within your team
  • Drawing up specific QA strategies for a modified or replacement system defining approach, phases and Automation.
  • Work closely with IT disciplines and business stakeholders to review and define acceptance criteria for User Stories, aligning with the overall businesses roadmaps and architectures
  • Work closely with business analysts (BA) and developers to enhance QA across systems
  • Install and test components and integrated solutions, capturing approach and results
  • Evaluating test results and articulating them succinctly.
  • Delivering or assisting developers with test automation and improvement wherever practical
  • QA of operational delivery automation and continuous improvement in conjunction with DevOps suppliers and IT Operations.
  • QA operational monitoring of components through integrated solutions

Key Requirements:

  • Strong QA experience of development and integrating components, at least 5 years.
  • QA of services through use of and supporting APIs, at least 3 years
  • Understanding of and ability to apply modern development methodologies such as BDD, TDD, Pairing etc. to support our Agile delivery practices
  • Experience of QA of component designs and specification from a high level solution architecture
  • Experience of delivery through Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) environments
  • Experience of QA of software in a formal regime using source control management and controlled gates with relevant artefacts to support design, quality and support.
  • Experience delivering test automation or frameworks and incorporating these into CI/CD environments
  • Experience of non-functional testing strategy for performance, load, stress and soak testing
  • Experience of UI testing strategy and execution for browser and mobile applications
  • Automate existing manual legacy regression test packs (based on the potential RoI)


  • Junit, Selenium, SOAPUI, NeoLoad, JMeter,
  • QA of RESTful web services
  • DB technologies SQL, PL/SQL, MySQL, SQLServer, Oracle, MongoDB, PostgreSQL
  • JSON, XML, HTML, CSS, SCSS and JavaScript
  • Agile Project Management tooling such as Jira or VersionOne
