OSS Engineer - 12 Month Contract - Outside IR35 - £500-£600 day rate
Create processes to update/migrate systems which will depend on the current purpose of the system in question.
Working with development teams to schedule migrations so as to cause the least disruption possible, within reason.
To determine the amount of upfront comms required and the effort needed to test those systems (by OSS or others) following the migration.
Ensure that existing services running on Debian operating systems are migrated to the virtual machines running Ubuntu20.04. This will involve verifying that basic services like NTP remain functional following the migration and docker containers or other java applications are operational. This will be in collaboration with the OSS team and the wider development group.
Leverage existing terraform and puppet systems to provision and configure the new machines ready for services to be migrated and to be integrated into existing infrastructure including but not limited to monitoring ... Etc
Document all implementation changes and design decisions made in and outside of the existing puppet and terraform systems for knowledge handover to the OSS team.
Support (issue and problem resolution) and maintain upgraded/migrated systems until handover of systems and all supporting documentation is completed.
