Lead Architect

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice and input to standards development/upgrades working collaboratively and effectively with multi-disciplinary teams and clinicians
  • Link closely with the support and maintenance process to ensure our standards remain aligned and consistent
  • Liaise with other organisations to ensure consistency and linkage with FHIR profiles and APIs
  • Ensure standards information on our website is up to date and accurate and versions are appropriately managed
  • Responsible for managing, updating, and upgrading (as required) our 'Art Décor' tool and information models, including maintaining up to date documentation and training for colleagues on our tools
  • Responsible for implementation of new/upgraded information systems as required to manage standards

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Knowledge of NHS and social care data standards
  • Knowledge of the NHS and social care data sets and reporting
  • Thorough knowledge and expertise in the principles and practice of good data design and modelling
  • Ability to create conceptual logical and physical data models and define standards principles and methods to guide the development of those models
  • Leverage insights of NHS data taxonomies, governance requirements and interoperability standards to integrate approach
  • Experience of system implementation, management and development
  • Strong understanding of data modelling & data stores
  • Strong working knowledge of solution design and development
  • A thorough understanding of informatics and all aspects of the enterprise data management architecture in the NHS and social care including for example data creation, storage, terminology, storage, movement, usage, retirement
  • Strong understanding of the eco-system of standards and international standards and terminologies
  • Strong technical understanding of clinical content to technical messages and associated tools, Previous experience in FHIR/HL7
  • Knowledge of data patterns, interoperability, APIs, Metadata Management
  • Experience in defining and delivering a corporate data strategy
  • Project and change management skills and proven ability to deliver projects to agreed quality, scope and timescales
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of the health and care sector
  • Good written skills and an ability to present complex and technical information in an accessible manner
  • Educated to degree level in computer science or related discipline, or equivalent experience with wide experience and expertise in the subject area
