Role: IT PMO Lead

Location: London

Start Date: ASAP

Salary: up to £55k

Our London based client is currently looking for an IT PMO Lead to join them on a permanent basis. The successful candidate be an experienced IT project delivery and PMO professional and will play a key role in helping to ensure projects across the portfolio comply with the PMO governance standards and procedures. You will provide visibility to senior management to help in making strategic decisions around project risk, issues, resource management and corrective action plans and will help to encourage the adoption of new IT project and portfolio management processes and tools to help to track against KPIs and ensure that governance and assurance frameworks are effective.

Experience Required:

  • Experience in an analytical role within an IT Portfolio Management office
  • Several years direct, first-hand experience managing projects at a level to be confident instructing and guiding project managers and advising on project planning & estimating, tracking & control, schedule & RAID management, communication, governance, and reporting.
  • Experience working with Project Portfolio Management tools and techniques
  • Solid understanding of the typical IT project lifecycle and grasp of various methodologies and approaches, e.g. waterfall, Agile, etc.
  • Experience with Local Authorities would be an advantage but is not essential

Key Skills:

  • Ability to confidently and assertively engage Project Managers and other project stakeholders to ascertain information relevant to the progress, status and issues on a project
  • Proactive, self-starter with the ability to prioritise workload to ensure targets and objectives are met
  • Attention to detail to ensure high quality and accuracy of project deliverables
  • Ability to demonstrate experience and gravitas to engage project and programme managers on a peer level and to coach where necessary
  • Ability to produce meaningful reports focused on insight, able to interpret data as challenges and opportunities and present these, along with proposed actions, in a concise and impactful way
  • Quick to identify both trends and root causes of problems, propose appropriate solutions and ensure clear messages driving clear action
  • Knowledge of MS Project, SharePoint, Excel, Power BI preferred, with good working knowledge of PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of an organisation to encourage people into adopting new ways of working to improve service delivery
  • Ability to document processes, and to visualise and simplify complex problems by asking the right questions and summarising inputs provided by other subject matter experts
  • A command of written and spoken English which is appropriate for the effective performance of the role
