Director IT Change, PMO

La Fosse Associates are working with a transforming Insurance Business who are seeking a permanent Director, IT Change/ PMO to report directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO).

The IT Change/ PMO Director will be responsible for creating and maintaining the technology plan and will work closely with the Managing Director of Business Change to ensure the over Change Portfolio is well managed and delivered.

IT Change / PMO Director will be accountable for the IT PMO (Administration, Reporting & Finance), Assurance (testing / quality assurance), Delivery (IT Project Management) and IT Portfolio Management.

This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate to join an organisation which is transforming through new processes, systems, and acquisitions. It will be suited to an individual who is ambitious and passionate about change management. The successful candidate will have the technical acumen to work closely with IT teams and will have a solid understanding of undertaking change in a regulated environment.

The role is London based (Hybrid working).

Education/ Training/ Qualification required:

  • Proven experience of successfully driving and leading IT Change / PMO at a senior level

  • Professional Services project/programme management training (including Agile, MSP, PRINCE etc)

  • Direct experience of project, portfolio, and programme management within a high-pressure commercial business context. Some experience of Agile methods and of balancing agile with structured programmes and related fixed scope/deadlines etc.

  • Significant senior level experience of delivering projects from concept to completion, and of managing necessary resources across multiple disciplines.

  • Financial Services (regulated) experience key. Desirable to have London Market Insurance knowledge and experience, ideally in broking, though broader exposure is an advantage

  • Proven capability in directing and delivering change in the context of organisation-level/strategic evolution (vs incremental).

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, comfortable and credible at senior level. Active listener, with high levels of integrity & openness.

  • Strategic change/adoption thinker, capable of contributing effectively to executive-level discussions.

  • Pragmatic delivery approach - develops creative approaches and solutions necessary to tackle and solve complex problems (in conjunction with broader IT team).

  • Skilled IT change manager, effectively establishing shared objectives, aligning plans and people, dealing effectively with potentially contentious situations using appropriate balance between action and consensus.

  • Highly structured approach to change definition, planning and execution management.

  • Ability to gather and digest unstructured inputs, extract relevant information, analyse effectively, and produce coherent and well-communicated approached, plans, status etc.

  • Proven track record of creating the conditions for successful embedding of IT change into the business for the purposes of realizing the benefits associated with the overall change portfolio.
