Job Title: IT Business Analyst

Location: Thame

Salary: £60,000 + Benefits

IT Business Analyst is required to join a hospitality Industry based in Thame. As a Business Analyst you will be supporting technology initiatives throughout all stages of the delivery lifecycle, analysis, design, build, test, implement, stating with a new HR & Payroll system implementation. You will be working cross functionally, by capturing and breakdown functional and non-functional requirements and to own and manage those requirements, facilitating clear understanding and agreement between stakeholders and delivery teams.


  • Working with business system owners, IT teams and 3rd party suppliers to understand business processes and the underpinning systems architecture.

  • Developing a clear understanding of problem statements, business objectives, project scope and desired outcomes/benefits.

  • Documenting and analysing as-is and to-be business processes, data flows and associated system requirements.

  • Capturing, validating, and managing detailed functional and non-functional requirements, gaining approval from business and technical stakeholders.

  • Being the custodian/owner of the requirements set, ensuring projects have a single point of contact for requirements delivery and traceability.

  • Contributing to project delivery planning, including milestone plans, detailed stage plans, test plans and go-live/cutover plans.

  • Working with IT and business teams to support end to end testing activities, defining, and owning traceability matrices, test documentation and acceptance criteria.

  • Supporting the effective transition of new or updated services into operation/support, ensuring operational readiness criteria are identified and achieved.

  • Supporting the Project Manager in ensuring all projects are delivered within the parameters of time, cost, scope, risk, quality, and benefits.

  • Collating and writing project documentation including business cases, project briefs and discussion papers, where required.

  • Providing analysis and support for 3rd party procurement activities, including RFI/RFP processes, where required.

  • Supporting the continuous improvement of internal processes and ways of working.

  • Staying up to date with business analysis practices, methodology and emerging trends.

Skills Required:

  • Extensive experience leading business analysis activities for enterprise system implementations (ideally ERP, HRIS).

  • An in-depth understanding of core business processes (particularly HR & Payroll) in retail/hospitality or similar.

  • Broad Tec knowledge across all technology domains (applications, data, infrastructure, security, service management), with an in-depth understanding of technical concepts.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience of engaging with and influencing a wide range of stakeholders up to a senior level.

  • Ability to probe and challenge in a professional way, to ensure the why of requirements is understood, agreed, and documented alongside the 'what'.

  • Someone who gets things done, willingness and ability to be hands-on, including holding requirements workshops, completing detailed analysis activities and collating documentation.

  • A self-starter with an organised and methodical approach and with excellent time-management skills.

  • A fast learner with an inherent ability to understand and interpret complex requirements and to identify and deliver appropriate technology solutions.
