Role: Infrastructure Lead
Salary: Up to £50,296 + Benefits
Contract: Rolling FTC - Currently til March 2024 (With the view to be extended another 5 years)
Location: Cambridge & Home Working

The Senior IT Infrastructure Lead is a new post in the Systems & Infrastructure team reflecting the increased dependence on, and complexity of the IT infrastructure.

The Senior Infrastructure Lead plays a key role in designing, building, testing and documenting the hybrid cloud infrastructure which will deliver robust, secure and efficient IT operations to the business.

  • The role holder takes technical responsibility for the design, delivery and continuous improvement of the IT infrastructure, along with acting as lead architect on infrastructure and related projects.
  • The role will also lead on provision of a cloud-based (primarily MS Azure) infrastructure.
  • The role holder line manages 2 members of the team who focus on IT Infrastructure.

Experience

  • IT foundational technologies e.g. TCP/IP networking
  • Designing and managing modern server infrastructure
  • Delivering enterprise infrastructure projects including migration of business-critical systems
  • Working with 3rd party vendors and outsourced IT technicians to deliver business requirements.
  • Robust management of end user computing devices
  • Implementing reporting, monitoring and automation
  • Experience of managing infrastructure to deliver secure services, protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data, ideally to accredited standards (e.g. ISO 27001 or Cyber Essentials).
  • Line management experience

Skills

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server platform
  • Expert knowledge of Debian based Linux Server platform
  • Network infrastructure i.e. DNS, DHCP, Subnets / vLANs
  • Understanding, testing and working with APIs
  • MS Active Directory / Azure Active Directory
  • Email transport methods including MS Exchange Server
  • On-premise to cloud and cloud to cloud migrations
  • Security, encryption and information security tools
  • Scripting language, ideally PowerShell or similar
  • Strong ability to build relationships at all levels of the organisation
  • Able to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Highly proactive, persuasive and enthusiastic
