Infrastructure Consultant - £550 per day - Outside IR35 - Semi Remote - 6 Month Initial Contract

This role offers an initial 6 month contract opportunity for an Infrastructure Consultant, to work with an International Financial Institution.

You would be responsible for Database, Storage and Compute Platforms hosted within the Bank's Co-located data centres. In the role you would provide governance, guidance/support to partner vendors and internal IT Teams to deliver a stable and secure BAU Service, as well as assist projects who are working on modernising the Banks Infrastructure.

Scope of Services:

  • Analyse the current Infrastructure Platforms technology estate and contribute to strategic decision-making, stabilisation, support maintenance/licence procurement and ongoing BAU Support for all Infrastructure platforms hosted in our data centres.
  • Work in collaboration with our Commercial Team and work with Software/Hardware Support Vendors on maintenance and licensing renewals.
  • Accountable for delivering Audit information to our internal/external auditors that pertains to the Infrastructure Platforms technologies.
  • Attend Project Meetings and provide guidance, advice, and act as the Technical escalation point for technologies relating to Infrastructure platforms. Remove blockers and participate in Stage Gate/go-no go meetings
  • Provide review and approvals to Change Records raised for Configuration Items under Infrastructure Platforms
  • Work with Offshore Service provider on SLA reviews, Problem Management and Risk Reviews that relate to the Infrastructure Platforms technologies.
  • Document solutions, fixes and remediation actions and transition to third party vendor.
  • Run knowledge transfer sessions, which may include producing process documentation and providing knowledge transfer sessions with third party provider.
  • Help modernise the Infrastructure Platforms estate and undertake tasks as directed by the I&O Leadership Team.

Essential Experience:

  • 10+ years of professional/managerial experience working with Infrastructure Compute, Storage and Database Platforms
  • Working knowledge of Virtualisation platforms such as VMware and Hyper-V.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, ADFS and DHCP/DNS Infrastructure Services
  • Working knowledge of RedHat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Linux and Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2019 Operating Systems
  • Oracle and SQL Database knowledge and working experience
  • Knowledge and working experience of Infrastructure as Code using Windows Powershell, Terraform or similar.
  • Working with Continuous Replication Tools such as Zerto/VMware SRM
  • Enterprise Storage Management experience e.g. NetApp across NFS, iSCSI and CIFS protocols
  • File Server Management including ACL Management, Data Migration and File Replication Services
  • TCP/IP connectivity debugging.

Experience in working with enterprise scale applications, high availability architectures, load balancing & disaster recovery

  • Knowledge of application and cloud security fundamentals
  • Working closely with Project Managers and project resources.
  • Knowledge of Private cloud hosting solutions
  • Managing Backup Solutions such as IBM Spectrum Protect/Spectrum Protect Plus
  • Managing an Active Directory and external Cloud hosted Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and external environment
  • Experience working in an ITIL environment with tooling such as ServiceNow
