Infrastructure Engineer (DevOps)

vCloud/Saltstack/Ansible/Python/Unix

I am currently working with an inspiring client, whose work in medical research and innovation is set to have a long-lasting impact on how we test and treat diseases. They are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to support, maintain and build infrastructure solutions for project and development teams, providing business critical Cloud and DevOps expertise. Sitting in the Platform Engineering team, the successful candidate will be given the chance to work on a variety of new and exciting projects across the business, contributing to the longer term success of their cause.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Produce secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud-based infrastructure
  • Identify, develop and implement automation tools to reduce repetitive manual tasks and increase productivity
  • Develop and maintain tools and services in performance monitoring, security, capacity, deployment/configuration, continuous integration and build servers
  • Deliver high performing continuous delivery infrastructures (build, test and release)
  • Support Dev and QA teams across various projects
  • Script, test and deploy new versions of the environment
  • Create detailed documentation of current and newly implemented environments with associated troubleshooting steps
  • Make roadmap recommendations to improve the infrastructure and adoption of good practices

Essential Skills:

  • Experience working with languages such as Python, Go, Perl, Bash
  • Previous experience working with vCloud, Linux administration, Saltstack/Ansible, Terraform, web servers (Apache, Nginx), Jenkins, Git and various Open Source technologies
  • Familiar with Networking concepts
  • Ability to design and support robust build, deployment and configuration management systems
  • In-depth experience in working with AAA (LDAP, Kerberos, AD)
  • Excellent storage design capabilities and knowledge of working in a Big Data environment
  • Able to manage and balance multiple priorities effectively in a demanding environment.

Any experience working with EMC Isilon would be highly desirable!
