Currently we are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer (3rd Line Support) to join a market research company. The position will see you working in the London office.

The Infrastructure Engineer will be an integral member of the support team. You will provide support at 3rd line and will be responsible for liaising with 3rd parties, including the hosting company.


Role: Infrastructure Engineer (3rd Line)

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000


Provide 3rd Line Infrastructure Support, offering expert advice and guidance to the business

Responsible for the administration of an array of Microsoft technologies such as IIS, SQL and File Services underpinned by Windows Server, vSphere and networking stacks

Liaise and work alongside 3rd party suppliers; in particular, managed hosting partners

Follow IT support processes in line with ITIL best practices



  • Windows Server 2008/2012/2016
  • IIS 7 - 8.5
  • PowerShell
  • Active Directory
  • Advance VMware knowledge including:
    • vSphere 6
    • vSphere clusters & networking
    • Shared storage Datastores (iSCSI)
  • Working knowledge of SQL administration including:
    • MS SQL 2012/2014/2016
    • Design, implement and maintain in line with best practices
    • Database migration techniques
    • Base level of T-SQL
  • Familiarity with ITIL framework


  • Strong background in server hardware - preferably Dell servers
  • Demonstrated experience in storage management (Dell / Netapp)
  • Proven background in backup systems. Commvault experience highly desirable
  • A solid understanding of networking principles (LAN, WAN, switching & routing, firewall, load balancers)
  • Knowledge of up to date security standards and demonstrated ability to adhere to these principles
  • Service Management tools (Service Now)
  • Monitoring and alerting
  • Public domain & SSL certificate management
  • Office 365
  • Exposure to Cisco IOS
  • Linux / Unix experience an advantage
  • Private / hybrid / public cloud (AWS / Azure)
