Head of Web Engineering | £145K–£160K + Benefits| London, UK (Hybrid, 2–3 Days Onsite)

Are you an inspiring engineering leader with a strong background in high-traffic web platforms? Ready to drive large-scale transformation and lead a 150+ person team through a complex and exciting digital journey?

We’re working with a high-profile UK-based digital organisation investing over £150M in the next phase of their digital evolution. As the Head of Web Engineering, you’ll take the reins of a newly formed, strategically critical division—responsible for some of Europes most visited web platforms.

Key Scope:

• Lead a cross-disciplinary team of 100–150 engineers across the UK, covering software, data, QA, and more

• Own the engineering vision for a suite of high-traffic consumer websites 

• Drive change and unite previously siloed tech teams under one shared culture, platform, and engineering standard

• Collaborate closely with product, design, architecture, and operations to deliver world-class digital experiences

We’re Looking For:

• Proven leadership of web engineering teams at scale, with strong experience managing organisational change

• Background in high-traffic platforms—media, marketplaces, fintech, or large-scale consumer digital brands

• Confident working across cloud-native architectures (AWS) and modern web stacks

• Experience in digital transformation, culture-building, and agile delivery

• Strong storytelling and stakeholder engagement skills—from exec teams to engineers

• A creative thinker who sees opportunities to drive further traffic 

Ideal Candidate Backgrounds:

• Candidates often come from leading product and content-driven environments: think digital media, streaming, ecommerce, fintech, marketplaces, or travel tech
• Strong experience across Web Engineering with a background is hands on development, engineering or architecture 
• Ability to drive real business change, manage complex technical landscapes and strong stakeholder management experience 

Location:
UK-based. Hybrid working – 2–3 days a week in-office. Some travel with eadership offsites 

Salary & Package:

• Base: £148K – £160K
