Role: Head of Solutions Architecture

Location: London or Milton Keynes (hybrid working model available)

Salary: up to £85k plus bonus, car allowance and benefits

Our client is currently looking for a Head of Solutions Architecture to join them on a permanent basis out of either their London or Milton Keynes offices. This will not be a full time on site role with extensive remote working options available. This is an exciting opportunity to join a global level organisation and to work across a range of technologies and systems where you will establish policy and strategy for the selection of solution architecture components, and co-ordinate design activities, promoting the discipline required to ensure consistency. The successful candidate will manage and co-ordinate the solution architecture function within the organization and will build and develop a Solution Architecture Centre of Excellence.

The role also involves leading the development of architectures for complex solutions, ensuring consistency with specified requirements agreed with both external, and internal customers as well as taking full responsibility for the balance between functional, service quality and systems management requirements within a significant area of the organization. Within a business change programme, you will manage the target design, policies and standards, working proactively to maintain a stable, viable architecture and ensure consistency of design across projects within the programme as well as monitor the external environment to gather intelligence on emerging technologies whilst assessing and documenting the impacts, threats and opportunities to the organization.

Essential experience

  • Understands the systems development lifecycle and typical problems associated with the implementation of information systems
  • Detailed practical knowledge of IT infrastructure and software development and maintenance methods, tools and techniques.
  • IT strategy, policies and standards.
  • Risk assessment, change management, configuration management, reliability and safety methods and the use of metrics
  • Skilled in project risk management.
  • Communicates persuasively and effectively.
  • Combines technical competence with business and commercial awareness and first-class communications skills
  • Possesses some knowledge of all types of information systems and detailed knowledge of more than one type
  • Leadership expertise
  • Understands the implications of new technologies.
  • Understands and communicates industry developments, and the role and impact of technology across an organisation
