I'm currently seeking a Head of engineering for a 6 month contract in the City of London. Candidates considered must have led teams of 50+ developers and testers within Open-Source modern tech stack languages and in mature Agile environments'. This is an exciting technology transformation project for a rapidly growing company; I am seeking candidates who have led the delivery and implementation of new technology platforms and engineering teams that have scaled quickly.

Essential skills:

  • Experience leading large technology change projects
  • Strong understanding and appreciation for old stack legacy systems, rebuilding old apps and introducing new and better technologies into live business
  • Working with lots of different third parties
  • Advice on how to run platform better
  • What's the optimum engineering path
  • Maturing agile environment so someone who can continue to develop more of an agile culture and continue introducing new agile methodologies
  • Someone who has experience implementing a devops capability and CI/CD model
  • An Inspirational leader of people who can enthuse and empower a dissatisfied team
  • Someone who has the confidence and gravitas to influence/manage stakeholder expectations

This is an excellent opportunity to join the highest growth department of an already well established, well known SME. In this department the product has gained record amounts of customer traction and revenue growth, that a dramatic technology transformation is required to keep up with product demand.

As head of engineering you will lead the technology change programme and inherit a team of 30 engineers with a view to scale quickly. You will help shape the new technology approach, set the delivery model, establish a solid hiring process for new tech stack engineers. Manage relationships and technical contracts with third party suppliers, implement engineering excellence and a dev ops practise, together with coaching, mentoring, inspiring and empowering the existing Development and Test team leads.

A 6 month initial engagement due to extend 9-12 months. Paying £700-£800pd. Interviews commence next week, so please apply now.
