We are looking for a proven, ambitious Head of Business Development to join the Digital Product Studio and take their digital product design/development mission to even wider audiences.

The Role:

If you are a talented and experienced Head of Business Development, with a proven record of building a client portfolio within a product development studio, agency or start-up environment this is the perfect position. You will be part of the Bristol Leadership Team, alongside the Head of Product Delivery, Head of Engineering and Head of Product Design.

As part of the leadership team you will be responsible for the success and health of the studio and accountable for the delivery of a set of holistic OKR's across Commercial, P&L, Team Health/Culture, Project Health, Client Relationships and Business Development.

You should be a passionate and driven individual to lead the Business Development efforts, leveraging unique client offering and experience to expand reach. The roll will encompass both new lead generation as well as growing existing accounts alongside your peers in the leadership team.

You will be reporting into the CEO, Group Commercial Director and CFO.

Some accountabilities include:

  • New business and existing growth strategy/plans
  • Identifying "Areas of attack" (sectors and products to explore/invest in)
  • Lead generation and qualification
  • Conducting a high volume of face to face or discovery meetings with properly qualified prospects
  • Pipeline and CRM management
  • Lead and coordinate pitch teams
  • Tracking and reporting progress against agreed targets on a weekly basis
  • Developing a best practise business development approach to help changing market conditions and scale
  • Identifying opportunities for campaigns, services and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales
  • Attending relevant industry functions, events and conferences to generate leads and ensure a strong understanding of current market and trends
  • Developing and growing the brand, raising awareness and improving reputation and recommendation
  • Growing the BD team and capabilites
  • Taking ownership of, and enhancing the customer experience

The must haves:

  • Strong industry network (both agency and client direct) as well as an extremely strong pipeline development and management skills
  • Ability to segment and acquire new clients based on strategic relevance to our client's capabilities
  • Strong presentation skill and ability to manage all stages of the business development cycle
  • Strong understanding in, experience of, and advocate of Lean Startup/Agile foundational frameworks for iterative product development
  • A strong understanding of the tech/digital landscape, excellent technical knowledge and a through understanding of trends in design and technology.
  • Strong Account Management ethos to ensure hard won busienss is maintained and grown
  • Ability to build and nurture valuable relationships with budget holders and stakeholders
  • Proven ability to build credible, trusting, sustainable relationships at a senior level within organisations
  • Excellent commercial, entrepreneurial, strategic and negotiation skills
  • Comfort interfacing between teams including engineering designers, strategists, delivery managers and client stakeholders
