Engineering Manager - InsurTech Client, Hybrid Working
Our client is the biggest global InsurTech company you've never heard of unless you've been looking to insure a satellite, wind farm or music festival recently. They launched in 2021 on the back of a fundraise that delivered $500m of investment, making them one the largest fintech start-ups that year.
They are seeking 2 Engineering Managers (one people focussed and the other tech focussed), hybrid working paying up to £120K per annum.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Recruit and lead technical talent
Be both highly technical and an effective people manager
Collaborate with various functions, drive engineering initiatives, and have an impact at an organisational level
Measure the impact of your team and set clear expectations and goals
Work with the CTO and Development Director to develop and implement the strategy for technological development
You will be accountable for:
Act as an advocate for technology vision both within the engineering community and the wider business community
Develop a high-performance culture
Bring a product-led and agile working mindset to the business
Management of the platform, broader architecture, roadmap delivery and engineering function
Establish technical best practices, policies, ways of working, testing and delivery strategies,
Designing, maintaining and delivering a coherent, well designed, scalable and robust technology architecture
Partner with Product Managers, Tech Leads and Senior Engineers to help build and achieve product roadmap plans with a high level of quality
We are looking for someone who has:
Previous experience of software development in the financial markets, FinTech or InsurTech is preferable
A background in development with strong prior experience in languages and frameworks such as Java, Python, JavaScript, Node.js, Spring Boot, Flask, Kotlin
Experience working in and advocating for a fully-automated, rapid development environment where tools and approaches such as CI/CD, DevOps, and GitOps were utilised
Direct commercial experience with a major cloud provider. GCP is preferred
Experience working in scaling teams
Experience of highly regulated environments and/or insurance would be ideal
