Job Title: Director of Programme Management

Salary: £100,000-£110,000 + 25% Bonus

Location: West London

Director of Programme Management required to join a well-known Global organisation based in West London. You will play a key role in supporting the Group Executive decision-making in selecting projects to meet the Group's strategic objectives and supporting delivery of these initiatives through high quality portfolio management, project management and change management.

The successful candidate will monitor and advise on the sequencing and co-ordination of all 'significant' projects/programmes (both IT enabled and other) to avoid potential conflicts and overload and in line with the organisations change capacity. You will also promote the creation and dissemination of standard programme management and change management tools, techniques and practice across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Portfolio Management & Project Management Standards

  • Lead the prioritisation of project delivery with management of the prioritisation process as new projects emerge and as inflight projects close with appropriate guidance to Group Executive.
  • Develop and manage reporting of key projects and programmes, including the project roadmap, to enable informed executive decision making on project delivery and realisation of outcomes
  • Drive the transparent and timely communication of project delivery conflicts and other challenges, enabling executive intervention where required.
  • Oversee and manage appropriate portfolio and project governance, to ensure best practice is embedded and strong oversight is in place across the portfolio.
  • Provide quality assurance oversight and consultancy support to the development of project business cases, ensuring robust business cases are in place whilst supporting efficient and timely decision making.
  • Create and refine the Group project management methodology, with continuous improvement in line with market best practice and industry benchmarks.
  • Lead the promotion and embedding of the project management standards across the company, ensuring understanding across all business functions.
  • Build the tools and templates required to deliver projects in line with the Group methodology and promote these tools to business users
  • Ensure that programmes comply with the necessary governance procedures and project management standards

Project Management Delivery

  • Work with several senior business stakeholders to assign project management resource to projects and programmes, ensuring budget provision is made. Source appropriate resources reflecting the requirements of each initiative.
  • Build project management and project support capability and capacity in the organisation through use of permanent and interim sourcing strategies as appropriate for business requirements.
  • Ensure clear accountability of project managers to accountable executives as sponsors whilst carrying out functional line management to ensure best practice project management.
  • Take ownership of project delivery in line with PMO framework to ensure on time, in scope and in budget delivery of projects.
  • Work very closely with the Change Management team to ensure projects are fully aligned and covered on both project and change management.

Team Management

  • Develop project management capability through creation of a high-performance team, balancing permanent resources and interim solutions as project lifecycles demand.
  • Provide team leadership, building a motivated team with appropriate development solutions where required to meet business demands.

Ideal Candidate

  • Track record operating as a Director of Programmes in most recent role is essential
  • Track record in delivering a variety of Business Transformation and IT Programmes on a Global scale is essential
  • Experience in enhancing and improving frameworks to effectively deliver key projects/programmes within a portfolio is essential
  • Experience in delivering on a Global scale is essential
