Our team is responsible for global technology platform for eCommerce and web-content. It drives our digital transformation using multi-tenant globally-distributed instances.

Our global platform currently processes more than 95% of our eCommerce revenue and serves more than 75% of all web traffic.

About the job

The right person will be a high­ performing DevOps Manager (Contract) with extensive experience with large scale eCommerce and web content implementations.

We are looking for someone who can bring technical gravitas, thought leadership and a passion for technology.

This is a unique opportunity for a senior technologist to help us build something that will

directly enhance the lives of millions, by supporting the provision of education on a

global scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate delivery of our operational automation technologies
  • Line management for our team of DevOps engineers
  • Own the technical design of the automation technologies required for globally deploying and operating the global platform which include hybris and Adobe AEM on very large scale to AWS.
  • Work closely with the application development and architecture teams to make informed, collaborative technical decisions.
  • Engage with our teams across networks, security, infrastructure, virtualisation, content delivery, integration and quality assurance
  • Technical design, delivery and quality of the deployment automation pipeline.
  • Define the development operations standards and ensure adherence to them
  • Active monitoring of risks to technical delivery
  • Engaging with the Solutions Architects and Development Managers to establish technical direction & approach.
  • Management of Development Operations priorities to deliver repeatable, continuous deployment capabilities.
  • Coordination with the Quality Assurance Team to support test activities.

Skills & Abilities

  • Experience working in an Agile / Kanban development environment.
  • Experience planning effort across several DevOps projects and streams. Careful planning of environment delivery and dependencies with other teams.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring technology talent.
  • Experience with Amazon AWS, Puppet and configuration management is essential. Knowledge of Terraform is a plus.
  • Significant experience with deployment automation, working with platforms for configuration management, provisioning, artifact repositories such as Puppet, Rundeck, Nexus, Jenkins.
  • Experience with the deployment of complex eCommerce and/or content management solutions. Specific knowledge of hybris and Adobe AEM is a plus.
  • Deep understanding of networking, load balancing and storage technologies in a cloud environment.
  • Significant experience with current coding/scripting skills (One or more of python, java, ruby, perl, php, .net).
  • Experience with cloud hosted application monitoring tools such as New Relic, Zabbix, Kibana.
  • Experience with source controls systems such as Git, Stash, Subversion or Perforce
  • Excellent collaboration skills across Development and Operations and with all other stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences, both technical and non-technical.
