DevOps Engineer

I am currently working with an innovative consultancy, specialising in the delivery of custom software solutions for blue-chip enterprise and public sector clients across a range of industry sectors, who are seeking a talented system administrators / devOps to join their team working on agile software development projects using open source technologies. The opportunity is suited to an individual at the early to middle stages of their development operations career who has gained experience in an agile software development team, and is keen to move into a full-time DevOps role.

Role Requirements:

  • Experience as a Linux administrator in a fast paced, demanding environment
  • Passionate about infrastructure automation and configuration
  • Passionate about continuous monitoring
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Version control: Git, Mercurial
  • Interest in Agile Methodologies (eXtreme Programming, Scrum, Kanban)
  • Computer Science degree, or equivalent
  • Shell Scripting Experience languages (Bash, Zsh)


The following skills and experience are nice to have:

  • Understanding of Continuous Integration and Delivery principles
  • Exposure to Agile practices
  • Setup and Administration, Performance Tuning of application servers and web servers
  • Understanding of networking concepts, technologies, and protocols
  • Virtualization, cloud, containers
  • Experience with tools such as: Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet
  • Experience with at least one scripting language (Python, Ruby)
  • Setup and Administration, Performance Tuning of common databases (noSql and traditional rdbms)

You will work in teams facilitating continuous delivery of quality software, working with the team and clients to ensure that the right infrastructure is in place and take the lead on automating as far as possible. The work is based most of the time on client premises, and most of the clients are based in central London or commutable distance from London, however you will be required to work outside London from time to time.
